How To Get Your Pool Ready For The Summer
That summer heat is rolling around fast, which means you should be taking complete advantage of the sun and the various activities you do as a family to get out of the house.
However, if you’d rather stay on your property, then it might be worth getting yourself a pool if you haven’t already got one. If you do, then making sure it’s prepared for the coming weeks and months is crucial. Here’s how to get your pool ready for the summer.
A clean pool is best for all
Remove and clean the pool cover
First and foremost, you’ll want to remove your pool cover. This can be done manually, or it might be something that’s attached to the pool and simply rolls up. However, while you might want to just roll it up and out of sight, you do need to keep it clean.
Therefore, once you’ve removed the pool cover, it’s a good idea to clean it too. That way, you’re going to reduce the amount of dirt and debris that’s getting into the pool after you’ve spent the time to clean it and get it ready.

Remove any dirt and debris from the water
Dirt and debris are likely to get into the water, and it’s often something that you can do a lot of when you come to assess the cleanliness of the pool.
While some pools keep well when they’re not in use, others will need a bit of TLC. Make sure you’ve taken away any dirt and debris from the pool (using a skimmer net can help), not to mention anything that’s been left around the sides of the pool.
Be sure your pool chemicals are pet friendly if they swim in your pool
Get a pool cleaner in for the complex stuff
A professional pool cleaning service is worthwhile if you don’t necessarily have the time to do it yourself. At the same time, there are going to be complex cleaning methods for cleaning pools that you might not have the knowledge or materials for.
That’s why it’s good to get a pool cleaner (like this fun robotic one we found at Walmart!) to help with the more complex efforts needed.
Create a fun outdoor space around a pool for your family
Don’t forget about the rest of your outdoor space
The rest of the outdoor space is deserving of your attention and should be when you’re cleaning up the pool area. Look at the surrounding space, whether it be some paving stones that need fixing after breaking, or removing any old water features or pool inflatables that have since popped.
Consider anything you might want to get for the outdoor area, too, like dining chairs or a barbecue for hosting.
Try to limit glassware around a pool
Be mindful of what you bring into the pool
When you’re getting into the pool, it’s important to be mindful about what you’re bringing in. From food and drink to your favorite electronic devices, you should be careful that you don’t spill anything or do anything that could impact the quality and safety of the pool water.
