Bad Smell in Your House? We Can Help!
Wondering what that bad smell is? It could be any number of things, but here are some good places to start in the home.
Rotten food can be the culprit
Forgotten Food Culprits
Leftovers buried at the back of the fridge or a forgotten takeout container under the sofa can quickly turn your kitchen into a science experiment. Spoiled milk, mouldy cheese and pungent sauces all produce gases that linger. A weekly fridge sweep and a quick sniff test before the next grocery run will keep these kitchen stinkers in check.
Your pets can leave odors everywhere
Pet Zones
Even the sweetest pet can leave behind odors in carpets, litter boxes and bedding. Bacteria in pet urine and damp fur break down over time and release ammonia or musty smells. Regular vacuuming, washing pet linens and scooping litter at least once a day will help keep animal aromas to a minimum.

Leaky plumbing can cause mold and more
Plumbing Problems
Drains are a common source of household odors. Food particles, soap scum and grease can build up in sink traps, while vents and pipes dry out and allow sewer gases to sneak back into the room. Running water in unused sinks, pouring baking soda and vinegar down the drain and occasionally cleaning P‑traps can banish these unwelcome aromas.
Hidden mold and mildew definitely smells
Hidden Mold and Mildew
Damp areas such as under sinks, behind washing machines and around window frames can host mildew or black mold. These fungi produce a distinctly musty smell and can even trigger allergies. Regular inspection of damp spots, use of a dehumidifier or an exhaust fan in humid rooms and prompt repair of leaks will keep mould growth under control.
Clean clothing can stink too!
That Mystery Sock Drawer
Believe it or not, textiles can trap sweat and body oils, then slowly give off sour odors. Make sure to air out laundry baskets, wash gym clothes after every use and sprinkle a little baking soda in drawers to neutralize any lingering whiffs.
