8 Great Home Organization Tips For Everyone

Inspiration to get more organized in your home life!

I don’t know about you, but I have a very hard time doing anything in a timely manner if I can’t access what I need when I need it. Whether it be a document I need for the doctor, a spice for a meal I’m cooking, or a hair product when I’m getting ready, I need it to be available and ready to go.

Organizing my life wasn’t something I’ve done overnight, but in time, I’ve come up with some great organizational hacks that have made my life easier. And maybe they will help you too. Life can get busy so start maximizing your time adding some of these organizational ideas into your life.

1- Binders

Binders or organizational files to store health and home information are great if you are in need of taking things with you to the doctor if you, your pets, kids or loved ones need important lab work or other documents. This was especially helpful to us when we moved to a new state and had to have our health records on hand. Some can be transferred electronically, but a hard copy is sometimes necessary.

2- Baskets and Hooks For the Pantry

Use baskets and hooks for pantry organization

I organized a large stairwell-turned-pantry into super usable space in our last home, and now I’m in the process of organizing our small pantry in our current home. It’s a process that involves lots of wall baskets and hooks. I also love an over the door shelf unit for my spices to maximize a small pantry space.

3- Baskets and Shelves for Toys and Crafts

I organized some of my craft supplies into baskets on a storage cube unit. This method would work well for a kids room and toys.

4- Use Baskets In the Bathroom

I love a large basket for storing clean towels bathroom washcloths next to the tub or shower. I have two of these large boho style baskets from Target and love using them for blankets too.

5- Wood Baskets for Beauty Products

I’ve organized my hair products on shelves and into wood baskets. See the full budget friendly tutorial on how I did this by clicking this link.

6- Glass Jars and Labels

When your cat’s and dog’s food looks similar, it’s best to use labels if storing them in glass jars. The labels are also cute! We like glass jars because you can see how much food you have left and glass keeps it very fresh. If you want to see how I used similar labels on my washer and dryer (and where I get my vinyl labels), click this link.

7- Use Baskets and Hooks for Pet Supplies

We have loved creating two different “dog stations” in our last and current homes. It makes for grabbing leashes and treats so much easier! See how we did it and the items we used by clicking this link.

8- Use Cabinet Organizers

We have been on a mission to maximize every ounce of space by organization and that has extended to our kitchen cabinets too. We love using dish organizers to prevent to much dish stacking, which leads to chipping and breaking.

No matter what you do, start small and don’t get overwhelmed! I add new organization ideas all the time and no one can do them all at once. Start with something you really need to organize the most (it’s usually paperwork) and do that this weekend. Then move onto another room of the house and organize that next month.

If you tackle one thing that needs organization each month, you’ll have 12 new areas of your life or home organized at the end of the year.
