How to Add 1950's Decor Ideas Into Your Home
Inspiration for your home’s style can come from anywhere, be it a certain place, a popular look, or even a vision of the past. For some people, the glam and luxuriousness of the 50s have an aspirational appeal, one that can easily be replicated in the home. Of course, you don’t want your home to look old-fashioned, so here are a few tips on how you can take the very best of 50s style and replicate it in your look.
Try some 1950’s inspired wire wall art
1-Go classic and classy with your materials
It’s tempting to go with the minimalist and contemporary look in your choice of materials for your rooms but, if you’re willing to spend a little more, you can enjoy some real natural appeal in your home. Some luxury items like mahogany floors or black walnut wall panels might not be the most modern choices, but these are not just gorgeous to look at, they also offer some real durability, as well as resistance to stains. This way, you can make sure that your room better maintains the look of the class you imbue it with.

2-Use the icons of the time
When we think of the 50s, a lot of us think of the rising dominance of cinema, as well as cinema’s effects on the fashion world. To that end, you can bring some of the classic class and ritz to your movies with decorative touches like Marilyn Monroe candid shots to adorn your walls. Marlon Brando, Gracey Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, and Frank Sinatra are great examples of some of the icons that you can make use of in your home design to bring you back to the peak of the era.

3-Go for the Scandinavian look
When it comes to your furniture, there’s no denying that the Scandinavian style was one of the big highlights of 50s interior design. Given that Scandinavian furniture has made a bit of a comeback over the last decade, still prized for that modern-feeling sense of minimalism, it doesn’t look out of place in a home in the 2020s, either. For more of that classic appeal, you can also upgrade your Scandinavian furniture with classic upholstery options, such as earthy greens and tans to stand out from the surroundings.

4-Create your congregation spot
The 50s saw the rise of house parties and classy, intimate soirees with your friends and, as a result, also saw the rise of the congregation spot within the home. This could include something like installing your own home bar, complete with your own bar stools, that could work well in the den or, if you have space, in the kitchen. This space should be decorated to feel welcoming and comfortable, first and foremost, and should be designed to focus on a sense of community and welcoming to the people sharing it with you.
