Expressing my gratitude is something that I do in my journal every single day. Expressing your gratitude daily is a great habit to get into. I wrote about it in this writing piece from September 2018.
Today I am specifically expressing my gratitude publicly towards the following people: The encouraging family, friends, clients, and business connections in my life (in-person and on social media).
My name is Carolyn J. Braden. I am an artist (and more!) and I am thankful for YOU.
I am thankful for every time you clicked “like” on one of my social media posts, commented, or told me in person about liking something I’m doing. When you do this, I know that I’ve reached you somehow, someway by using my gifts and talents.
You are my “WHY”.
I have a lot of internal motivation and confidence, but it is ALWAYS wonderful to have others tell me they like what I am doing. I am ever so appreciative to those that do.
When you (honestly) like or comment on someone’s social media post or tell them in person that you like what they are doing, it gives them their “why”.
Without any engagement on social media or in-person, it feels as if you are in a room talking to someone that can’t hear or see you.
If you’ve ever seen the movie The Miracle Worker (1969, a true story about a blind and deaf child named Helen Keller, who learned how to live her life without sound or sight), you become empathetic towards that kind of frustration of silence. I saw the movie when I was very young and it really affected me.
Luckily, a great teacher, Anne Sullivan, helped her be able to “see and hear” in a new way, so her frustration lessened. She overcame great obstacles because of the encouragement of her teacher.
Without encouragement, I don’t think Helen would have become the courageous and high achieving person that she did. Read more about her life by clicking here.
The relationship she had with her teacher is exactly what all humans need. A relationship of encouragement. Some need more than others, but no matter what, we all need it. We all need each other.
Thank YOU for your encouragement.
Sending my love and light out to anyone who needs it!
