If you are looking for a quick side dish to go with the pigs in a blanket recipe, try our easy parmesan air fried potatoes! Get the recipe in our 1 minute video below or via our YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:

You can make these as spicy as you want or cut the spiciness out altogether…I will tell you how to alter it as not everyone loves spicy food! Honestly, if you make them as is, the cream cheese and cheddar cheese really helps tone the spicy level. Read on to learn how to make my spicy and cheese pigs in a blanket recipe.

Cheesy pigs in a blanket

This recipe really can be made in 30 minutes or less. You can make pigs in a blanket for your own family for dinner or for a yummy party food. If you use large hot dogs like I did, you can cut them in half. You can also use mini hot dogs as well. This is a hot dog recipe that kids will like too! We like to serve ours with tater tots or fries.

You can omit the jalapeños to remove the spicy food factor

We use our Emeril Air Fryer for the tots and fries (it makes them so deliciously crispy), but we also can cook these pigs in a blanket in it too!

How To Make Spicy and Cheesy Pigs in a Blanket

Now for the recipe! To make spicy and cheesy pigs in a blanket, you’ll need the following ingredients (I included removing the spicy level instructions too!):

Tools: Large glass bowl (or any large mixing bowl), air fryer or oven, spatula, parchment paper, cookie or baking sheet, knife or spreading tool

Time: 30 minutes

Servings: 3-4

See me make this recipe in our short 1-minute video below or via our YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened until spreadable

  • 3-4 teaspoons nacho sliced jalapeños JUICE (juice from the jar of nacho sliced jalapenos)

  • 1-2 tablespoons chopped nacho sliced jalapeños

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar

  • 2 teaspoons chili lime seasoning (I got mine at Whole Foods and Kroger grocery stores but many other stores like Trader Joe’s and Walmart has it too)

  • 8-ounce tube of crescent rolls

  • 4 hot dogs, cut in half (I used an organic chicken hot dog, but you could use a vegan version or a mini hot dog or whatever you like best)

Directions:

1—If needed, preheat your air fryer or oven to 350 degrees (F).

2—In a mixing bowl, mix together the cream cheese, jalapeño juice, chopped jalapeños, cheddar and chili lime seasoning. If you do not want the spiciness, omit the jalapeños and juice. You can omit the seasoning too if you wish. Mix together until well blended. You can use a hand held mixer if needed.

3—Open the tube of crescent rolls and roll out each crescent roll flat onto a nonstick surface. I use these flexible cutting boards and love them

How I spread the cream cheese mixture onto the crescent roll

4—Spread a tablespoon or more of your cream cheese mixture onto each crescent roll.

5—Cut 4 hot dogs in half and roll them up one at a time into the cream cheese mixture coated crescent rolls.

The parchment paper helps them not stick to the baking sheet

6—Place each rolled hot dog onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Bake until they are golden brown

7—Use a spatula to remove and eat and enjoy! We eat leftover cream cheese mixture on water crackers and it’s delicious!

This recipe is really easy and delicious!

Tips and tricks:

  • Try adding a different cheese for a different flavor, like a smoked version

  • Use any other seasonings as desired

  • Omit the jalapenos and juice to remove the spicy level
