This $12 Lip Mask Dupe Hacks Your Dry Lips

For over a year, I went in search of a lip mask to replace my Laneige Lip Mask. I really and truly loved it and it made my winter lips never get chapped again, but unfortunately it was not cruelty free.

I went on a cruelty free product replacement search around 2018, and slowly started finding new cruelty free replacements in my home care and beauty product regimes. After lots of testing, I finally am proud to say I have found a new lip mask that I love. Read on to learn about my Elizabeth Mott find of a $12 lip mask dupe that will hack your dry lips.

I put both brands to the test on winter chapped lips

I first discovered Elizabeth Mott products years ago when I received the Thank Me Later Eye Primer in an ipsy bag. It made my eyeshadow last all day, so I’ve kept it in my makeup routine since then. Elizabeth Mott, as a brand is marketed the “Best of Korean Beauty”, and based on my experience, I’d say it makes my top 10 of makeup companies.

Both lip mask brands have the same texture and thickness

Elizabeth Mott was founded by Alice Kim, a Korean American woman that grew up in America. Read more about her story on the Elizabeth Mott website. It is an affordable brand that brings us a lip mask that is a great dupe for the Laneige Lip Mask. It’s also half the price. Currently, I see Laneige selling their lip mask for $24.00 on Amazon. The Elizabeth Mott Lip Mask is currently half the price of Laneige at $11.99 on Amazon.

The Elizabeth Mott lip mask smells like berries

Both lip masks are around the same size, with the Elizabeth Mott being slightly bigger at 0.71 ounces. Both are extremely thick and effective. I did love the Laneige Lip Mask and it is effective, but without it being cruelty free and being double the price of the Elizabeth Mott Lip Mask, I made the switch and won’t look back. Elizabeth Mott can ensure their brand is cruelty free, and even made sure to get their products certified by the Leaping Bunny program, and you can verify their certification by clicking here.

The best thick lip mask overall is the Elizabeth Mott Lip Mask

Lip masks are designed for you to put on your lips at night and wake up to super soft lips. There are tons on the market, and during my quest to find a dupe for the Laneige, I tested a lot. In the winter, no matter where I live, I get very chapped lips. It’s maybe from the weather but it also is probably from having the heat on in the house. I drink tons of water, so I know it’s environmental.

My test included wearing the lip masks at night for a couple of weeks and seeing how dry my lips were when I woke up. The Elizabeth Mott lip mask kept my lips from getting chapped, just like the Laneige Lip Mask.

I found a good dupe for my favorite Buxom lip plumping gloss and it’s only $5….see it in my 1 minute video review below or via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:

The Elizabeth Mott lips mask goes on a sheer light pink and I think you could even wear it during the day if you are experiencing severe dry lips. It smells like berries, but has no taste.

I love the lower price point of the Elizabeth Mott lip mask

An even lower price point of something that is not marketed as a lip mask, but is a great product to help chapped lips is Rosebud Lip Salve. It was my very first internet purchase in the early 2000’s and it’s been a staple I’ve kept on hand since. It’s made by the Rosebud Perfume Company and they are a cruelty free company too.
