This $7 Body Butter is Worth Picking Up at Trader Joe's

If you are like us and see many beauty brands starting to slowly hike up their prices, you may be looking for some alternatives. I absolutely love Mario Badescu’s Coconut Body Butter, but because it has not gone on sale in a long while and because the brand raised the already high price of $16 to $17, I had to set it aside. Read on to learn about Trader Joe’s Coconut body butter dupe that I tested and love.

I tested lots of alternatives when looking for a coconut body butter dupe like Mario’s. The light tropical coconut scent is something that reminds me of summer days filled with beachy fun in the tropics that I love to have on my skin every night. Among the brands that really go close to taking the place of the body butter is Hempz. The generous sized bottles are cost efficient and are really moisturizing. I love Hempz Sweet Pineapple & Honey Melon and several other scents.

The texture of the Trader Joe’s is almost the same as Mario’s

While I’ll keep using Hempz lotions during the day, at night I like to treat my skin after a shower with a thick body butter. My skin gets very dry from the Florida sun and because of aging, the thick and creamy texture of the Trader Joe’s Coconut Body butter is perfect for me. I also like that it almost smells exactly like the Mario Badescu’s body butter and it has about the same texture.

The Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter smells yummy

I also have to note that Trader Joe’s body butter did not irritate my skin. Neither did the Hempz lotions. My leg skin can often become irritated with certain lotions and these brands were a great match for my skin. They are also cruelty free. While the scent doesn’t last all day on either lotion (I don’t think I’ve ever had a lotion scent last all day), you can pair it with a coconut body mist to boost the tropical scent.

I go through body butter pretty quickly, so with the $7 in store price of Trader Joe’s version, I’ll be picking it up in bulk and if you like it too, I suggest you do the same before it sells out!
