If you are the type of person that likes to keep busy, then there is always a job that you find that needs doing at home. The current pandemic has enabled us to spend even more time at home, which in a certain sense can be positive as it enables you to undertake creative tasks and finally get round to finishing all those pesky little DIY jobs that you always hoped to complete but never did. It is the ideal opportunity to maximize your time at home instead of seeing it as a negative.

1- Take a Break From Screen Time

Considering we spend the majority of our time in front of a screen (laptop, cellphone, television) on a daily basis, it is refreshing to get away from social media for a little while and do activities that don’t involve scrolling through endless websites in a zombie like state or joining another Zoom call. (Goodness knows there have been plenty of those in the past year!).
I love to go for walks with my husband and dogs. I also love to dance and make up dances for others to do. Click here to do two of my routines to Dua Lipa songs!
2- Get Creative Around the Home

You can get your creative juices flowing by doing some crafts, sewing, painting, drawing, making jewelry or creating a lovely front door ornament, to add a lovely cozy, personal touch to your home. I turned my grandmother’s old chest into a fab new piece of furniture using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Check out that project by clicking here.
3- Immerse Yourself In Another World

When was the last time you sat down and read a book from start to finish? You could reread a book you haven’t read in a long time that you enjoy thoroughly or find something new to get lost in and escape. Try reading the magical mystery novella I wrote: Georgia McMasters in Amethyst Lake Cemetery. It’s free for Kindle subscribers on Amazon.

It is a good idea to do checks on various home appliances that are currently not in use to ensure they are working correctly. For example in the winter months you could check your air conditioning unit is working sufficiently for when you will need it for those long hot summer nights. We definitely check our air frequently due to living in the hot climate of south Florida (USA)!
5- Learn a Musical Instrument

If you have never tried learning a musical instrument, why not give it a go, to see if you will enjoy it. It doesn’t need to be something huge like a grand piano, but something smaller like a violin, guitar or flute.
6- Organize and Declutter
Sort through your wardrobes, cabinets, drawers and see if there is anything that you really do not use or want anymore and give it to someone else or sell it on eBay if it is still in good condition. After we moved recently, I found even more items to sell after unpacking everything. I thought I got rid of everything I needed to before moving, but alas, there was more to donate and sell.

Relaxing and keeping calm is very important for our mental wellbeing, so make sure you try and find time for yourself. Whether it is sitting quietly listening to your favorite music, doing a facial, having a relaxing bubble bath, going for a walk, ensure you enjoy switching off from the outside world.
Here are some of my favorite self-care items that I’ve ordered from Amazon recently (and they actually work!):
There are a plethora of activities you could do that do not involve screen time so try something different for a change, instead of the familiar sitting on the sofa watching Netflix.
