My great grandmother’s cedar chest was in need of a makeover. It was either time to refinish it OR try making it over with some chalk paint and gold wax. I chose to paint it!
I started out using Behr Chalk Paint in white, but after three coats, it just wasn’t giving it good enough coverage for my tastes. So, I switched over to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and it worked like a dream. After using it on our kitchen cabinets and loving it, I should have just stuck with it. Oh well. You live. You learn.
Behr Chalk Paint is good and worked well on a pre-painted table side table I used it on (as another experiment) and I would try using it again. However, a dark piece of furniture covered better with the thicker paint, Annie Sloan. Behr was a little thinner and would roll out really well if you ever wanted to try it on lighter kitchen cabinets or lighter furniture.
