Creative Toilet Paper Folding Ideas for Halloween
Tips for Making the Best Toilet Paper Spider Web
Toilet paper origami is all about experimenting. Here are a few helpful tips to make your spider web turn out beautifully. I used a cutting technique you usually would use on a piece of paper for a classroom or home décor, but decided to attempt it with a tiny toilet paper square and it worked! Here’s what I learned:
1. Start with small cuts. You can always make the openings larger, but cutting away too much paper can cause the web to fall apart. I went through several duds before I made mine successfully. Failure is a part of creating.
2. Fold carefully. Keep your edges aligned during each fold. This helps create a more balanced design when the paper is opened.
3. Unfold slowly. Toilet paper is fragile, especially when several layers are cut. Gently separate each layer rather than pulling the paper open quickly.
4. Try different colors. White creates a classic spider web, black gives your bathroom a spooky Halloween look, and pink adds a playful pop of color.
5. Add a stamped design. If you want to experiment, use a toilet paper stamp or small circle rubber stamp to add a decorative pattern before folding. Test your stamp on a spare piece first, using a light touch to avoid tearing the paper.
6. Practice on an extra sheet. If your first attempt doesn't turn out exactly as expected, don't worry! Adjust the fold size, cut spacing, or number of cuts until you find a design you love.
7. Make a few extras. Once you've mastered the technique, create several spider webs to use throughout your guest bathroom or for a Halloween party.
They look cute in my tank basket too!
How to Use Your Toilet Paper Spider Web for Halloween Bathroom Decor
Once your spider web is complete, you can use it to add a little Halloween personality to your bathroom.
Put it into place on top of a fresh toilet paper roll.
Use it as a decorative accent on a toilet paper stack in your guest bathroom.
Coordinate the color with your Halloween towels, soap dispensers, or other seasonal accessories.
Make several in different colors for a playful Halloween bathroom theme.
Create a spooky guest bathroom surprise for Halloween parties and overnight visitors.
Keep in mind that this is a delicate decorative fold, not a functional toilet paper design. Save it for display, and use a fresh sheet when it's time to use the toilet paper.

How to Fold a Toilet Paper Spider Web
Follow these simple steps to make your own toilet paper spider web for Halloween bathroom decor. Use the photo tutorial as a visual guide as you fold and cut.
How to Make a Spider Web with Toilet Paper
Step 1: Cut the Toilet Paper into a Square
Start by separating one sheet of toilet paper from the roll.
Cut off one side of the toilet paper sheet to create a square. Try to keep the edges as even as possible so the folds line up neatly.
Tip: Toilet paper is delicate, so use small, controlled cuts rather than trying to cut through too much material at once.
Step 2: Fold the Square into a Triangle
Fold the square diagonally in half to create a triangle.
Run your finger gently along the folded edge to make a crease. This will help keep the layers together as you continue folding.
Step 3: Fold the Triangle in Half Again
Fold the triangle diagonally one more time to create a smaller triangle.
Line up the edges as carefully as possible. The more evenly you fold the toilet paper, the more symmetrical your spider web will look when you unfold it.
Step 4: Fold It into a Tiny Triangle
Fold the triangle diagonally one additional time to make an even smaller triangle.
At this point, you'll have several layers of folded toilet paper. Keep the layers aligned, but avoid pressing too hard because the paper can tear.
Step 5: Shape the Spider Web
Fold the top of the small triangle down toward the bottom to create a compact folded shape.
Trim the open end of the folded triangle, cutting at a slight bend or angle to create the curved edge of your spider web.
This angled cut helps give the finished design its web-like shape.
Important: Don't cut through the entire folded piece or remove too much material. Start with a small cut because you can always trim a little more if needed.
Step 6: Make Tiny Cuts Along the Folded Edge
Using your scissors, carefully make small cuts along the folded edge of the toilet paper.
These cuts will form the openings in your spider web design once the paper is unfolded.
I was able to make three small cuts in my example, but you can experiment with the spacing and size to see what works best with your toilet paper.
Keep the cuts small and leave enough paper between them so the web stays connected.

Step 7: Carefully Unfold Your Toilet Paper Spider Web
Now for the fun part!
Slowly open each folded section of toilet paper to reveal your spider web. Work carefully and separate the layers gently to prevent the delicate paper from tearing.
Once fully unfolded, adjust the paper slightly so the openings are visible and the web lies as flat as possible.
Congratulations! You've created a DIY toilet paper spider web that's ready to display in your Halloween bathroom.
Pink and Black Toilet Paper Spider Web Halloween Craft
I laid it onto the seam of a toilet paper roll, wet a rubber stamp, placed it into the center of the web, held it for 5 seconds and removed the stamp. The wet stamp and pressure will stick the two together after you allow it to dry!
