2023 Update: This space got updated a bit right before our home was hit by Hurricane Ian. Thankfully this space received little damage. Scroll to the bottom of this post for our updated look and for more fun products that we love!
When it comes to beauty product and jewelry organization, I find getting ready goes much faster if all the items are visible and easily accessible. While there are many ways to display the items, some are expensive and don’t quite fit in with the average home design budget.
Read on to see the quick and easy tips and tricks I used for organizing my “getting ready” space in a budget-friendly way.
Boho Getting Ready Room
This is not my first time organizing a “getting ready” area. In my last home, I was able to turn a small bedroom into a walk-in closet/getting ready area. Click here to view that transformation.
Tropical Storage Ottomans
I was fortunately able to use some of the items from my previous closet for my new home. I used the same storage ottomans I purchased via Amazon to store my curling irons and hair dryers. The mannequin in which I hang my cool beach hat from was my grandmother.
Beauty Product Frigidaire Mini Fridge
I had to leave the gold and white wall mounted shelf behind after selling the home, but because I bought it on Amazon, I was able to buy the exact same one again because I loved it so much. I was even able to get it cheaper in an open box deal from the Amazon Warehouse. It was labeled in perfect condition and I was able to save about $75.

You can see Amazon Warehouse deals for products usually under the “Buy New” choice on Amazon.com. If you look below the “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” buttons, sometimes you’ll see “Save with Used”. I look to see if the item is in good or perfect condition and how much money I’ll save to see if it’s something I want to buy instead of the brand new item.
Best Mini Fridge for Beauty Products
I don’t always choose this option, but it’s there sometimes if you want to try it. I think most of the items that ship via this buying method are customer returns. Everything I’ve bought in this way so far has always been a great buy.
On the bottom shelf, I was able to house my mini fridge (a great Black Friday deal from Walmart) where I store some eye creams and facial wands for my combination skin. I found the mini wood storage crates at T.J. Maxx and used them to store hair brushes and perfumes.
Storage Crates for Beauty Product Organization
I took measurements of the shelf space before buying the crates to make sure they would fit. I don’t think I ever go into a store without a tape measure in my purse!
Hair Product Organization
Some may say I have too many hair products, but because I have wavy, thick, and dry hair that I sometimes straighten or wear curly, I think I have just the right amount of products. I also have products to style my husband’s hair, so it only makes sense for me to display them like a store would so I can grab them and style away!
Snake Plant in Modern Planter
On the top of the shelf, I combined a natural wood round (I got it from a farmhouse wedding I organized) with a faux snake plant I found at T.J. Maxx. The wood engraved box was my grandfather’s and it stores some small keepsake items.
Wood Framed Boho Mirror From the Opalhouse Target Line
Next to the shelf, I hung jewelry hangers and a wood framed mirror. The mirror was from the Opalhouse collection at Target. The Opalhouse line has lots of cute boho inspired decor that I have throughout my home.
Modern Shelf Storage and Dressing Room Mirror
I leaned the mirror against the wall, but it came with supplies to mount it on the wall if desired.
Boho Mirror in Dressing Room
I ordered wood hooks from Amazon to hang some organizational jewelry hangers that my husband made for me. You could also find some like the ones he made on Etsy.
Handmade Wood Jewelry Organizers
I hung my necklaces in a way that made them look like cool wall hangings. Functional art is my favorite!
Boho Necklace Organizers
All in all, I spent about $300 between the mirror, the ottomans, shelf, fridge, crates and decor. I did not buy everything at once, which is the key to being able to afford the decor you want. I scour the internet in search of the best price, sometimes even when I’m in the middle of a store shopping!
My husband used to be a retail manager and he taught me how to shop in this smart way. He always says I can “get whatever you want if you are willing to wait a little while because everything always goes on sale”. And this is true!
2023 Updated Getting Ready Room
Boho Getting Ready Room
I’m never quite “done” with a room. I added all kinds of new things to our getting ready room right before Hurricane Ian hit our home in 2022. We are so thankful to have a house even still standing!
I created this large scale driftwood art piece
This room received very little damage. I completed the driftwood sun large-scale art piece right before the hurricane hit. I am so thankful it didn’t get thrown off the wall like some things in our home did due to the severe shaking of the storm.
The best is yet to come quote is my favorite
I always keep positive quotes all around the house to keep positive thoughts flowing. I can only hope that some of that positivity helped us after coming back to our Sanibel Island home after a four month evacuation.
My cute Minnie Pearl loves this mushroom stool
Much of the island was destroyed, but having this peaceful and calming house to come home to was a blessing. We evacuated to my husband’s parent’s home in Indiana for 4 months and I was astonished to see my propagated snake plants still alive when we returned. They are a very hardy plant!

Here is the organizer I love to keep my makeup brushes organized:
I like to keep my makeup organized in drawers that I can easily access, while I keep my brushes at an arms reach length in a mug and silicone organizer.
Minnie Pearl loving my Getting Ready Room
Minnie Pearl often joins me in my getting ready room as long as I have some water quickly available, as she is always thirsty! I love the functionality and affordability of Mr. Pen products for our dogs. We especially love their dog water dispenser and water bowl combo. The company was founded by teachers, and since I’m a former teacher, I’ll always lovingly support other teachers!
Motivational quotes surround my vanity
I keep motivational quotes and painted seashells (created by me and other artists) all around my vanity too. Things that sparkle, my dogs, and an organized getting ready room always keep me smiling.
