3 Brilliant Design Themes For Your Kitchen

Your kitchen is one of the most functional rooms in your home. As such, its design should accommodate all tasks you perform and show your unique personality. If you’re thinking of renovating your kitchen to reflect your home’s character, you’re not alone. Studies show that more than 10 million Americans and counting have remodeled their kitchens at one point.

My husband and I love incorporating design themes into our home renovations. Having a theme in mind can help you quickly and easily pull together any room of your home. To give you inspiration and get your creative wheels churning, here are three brilliant design themes for your kitchen.

1- Modern Farmhouse Theme

This kitchen design has a rustic and industrial theme feel. The perfect incorporation of new and modern décor gives off sleek, urbane sophistication while making it homely and approachable. There are a few things to consider should you decide on this theme. While there are particular rules on what colors to use, most stunning modern farmhouse kitchen themes combine neutrals like black, white, and wood and stone tones.

You can also use vintage cabinets and open shelves made with reclaimed wood. Ensure that you make the most out of natural lighting with big windows when it comes to lighting. You can throw in an antique accent light in the center of the kitchen to bring the room together.

2- Retro Diner Theme

The retro diner was the theme of our first home. If you’re a fan of vintage décor or are looking for a way to bring in some color into your kitchen, why don’t you consider doing a diner theme? Many people prefer to hang out in diners because of how friendly and carefree it is. Likewise, you can make your kitchen an inviting nostalgic room for you and your family and friends to spend quality time.

One of the easiest to recreate a classic diner look is putting in checkered flooring. In our first home remodel, we used easy peel and stick tiles to give our kitchen floor a quick makeover. You can go with the usual black and white, but mix and match any colors you fancy.

Additionally, you can also fit in retro kitchen cabinets and appliances, along with some diner art such as neon signs, road signs, and classic vintage ad posters, among many others. For an extra touch, you can set your dining table with beautiful accessories like vintage restaurant napkins, placemats, and melamine kitchenware if you can throw in a jukebox lookalike to complete the look.

3- Coastal Theme

Coastal décor gives off an easy, light, and relaxing feel of life at the beach. Coastal-themed kitchens use soft colors like blue, green, and yellow that remind people of the sea, sand, and other natural elements used in coastal areas like rattan, shells, and wood. This theme works best in open spaces that make use of natural light.

You can also use track lighting and tie in your theme with a creative center light above the room. Décor under this theme often reflects the seaside. You can use plain colored linens or beach-themed linens for your curtains and placemats. When selecting new cabinets, you can either opt for a modern look or a traditional wood design. It all depends on what looks best and suits your personality.

When it comes to finding the best theme for your kitchen, there are several other design ideas you can choose from. Or, if you are feeling particularly creative, you can come up with a theme all by yourself. Hopefully, these ideas have helped you make a decision.
