What if I don’t have time to make this recipe but want a cool treat for my dog?
We like these ice toys from Amazon. We fill them with water and keep them in the freezer for a cool treat on hot days for our pets.
We used kid sized popsicle molds
I like to use my Vitamix (which I got refurbished on Amazon) to blend the ingredients for this recipe. The pitcher is lightweight and has a nice pour spout, making it easy to pour the mixture into the molds.
Fill your kids sized popsicle molds almost to the top
I adore these Yapito popsicle molds! Their custom made stand perfectly fits the pop molds and holds them upright for easy pouring. Their smartly designed handles have little “cups” on the handle that catch drips.
We love small molds for small dogs
They are a smaller size, making them a great choice for snack popsicles for adults, kids, or pets!

The kid size popsicle molds work best for this recipe
My pops froze in 5 hours, but yours may take longer, depending on your freezer’s temperature. There are directions for freeze times included with the pop molds.
2 Ingredient Healthy Pupsicles for Dogs
As you can see in the photo below, some of the peanut butter (because it’s a heavier ingredient than the water) settled to the tip of the pop. My dogs loved this part of the pop….it was like their “peanut-butter surprise”!

Replace the peanut butter with LOW SODIUM chicken or beef broth if your dog doesn’t like peanut butter.
I’d steer clear of dairy additives or coconut milk as most dogs tummies cannot tolerate it.
If you want to add any kind of ingredient that I have not listed in my recipe, look it up online or check with your veterinarian to make sure it’s pet friendly
If you don’t have a blender, place the ingredients in a bowl and use a whisk to blend it until smooth

I think the photos of my dogs below prove this is a tasty recipe!
I held the pops for them as they licked them. Me (and our veterinarian) HIGHLY RECOMMEND that your dogs LICK the pops until they are almost gone. Chewing hard ice can contribute to broken teeth (in humans and pets).
Easy DIY treats for dogs
The peanut butter is a nice, soft ingredient that makes these pops softer than plain ice, but your pets should always be observed when eating these. You should hold the pop handles for them as they may chew on them, which can lead to breakage.
Our American Eskimo dogs love this recipe
We had to give our pets (they are Miniature American Eskimos, often called Spitz Dogs) separate pops because Minnie Pearl did not want to share hers! Her brother, Johnny Cash, finished his early and she growled at him when he tried to eat some of hers. She really must have liked it because she is never food aggressive!
