Open The Windows

This seems like a fairly simple one. However, many people do not open the windows nearly enough, especially in the wintertime. Try and open them for at least five to ten minutes a few times a day. This will let out anything that has built up, such as cooking gasses. This sort of easy ventilation is a great way to get fresh air and improve air quality cheaply.

Vacuum and Dust Regularly

By staying on top of these household chores, you will be constantly limiting the amount of dust in the house. If you vacuum at least once a week, the amount of dust that flies off the carpets will be minimal, so you will breathe in less. Dust is full of many harmful particles such as asbestosis, which is from asbestos, silicosis, from silica, talcosis, from talc.

There may even be particles of lead floating about from old paint. This is far more likely in older houses built before the 1970s when lead paint was used extensively. So the more often you clean, the fewer harsh particles there will be in your house.
