House Facelift: How to Give Your Home a New Look

Homeowners should always be on the lookout for ways to improve their homes. It's a good idea to freshen up the look of your home periodically. We added shutters to our home exterior in our previous home and it made a huge difference!

Whether it is adding new furniture or rearranging their living room, everyone has an idea of what they want to do with their home. This article will provide you with a few ideas worth considering when you are looking for a way to give your home a facelift!

1- Paint

One of the easiest ways to update the outside of your home, your living room, bedroom, or even bathroom is by painting. If you are not ready for an entire renovation but need a change in your home, then paint is a quick and easy way to give it that fresh look again.

Choose a new color that you have wanted to try, or go with a neutral hue if you are unsure what you want. Painting is also a great way to cover up any flaws in your walls.

2- Plants

Plants can be a quick and inexpensive way to transform your home. You can find them at most stores, or you could grow a few from seed! You can create a green wall with planters on the inside of your house. If this is not an option for you, consider bringing in some greenery from outside by using potted plants, flowers in vases with rocks at the bottom to weigh them down. You can also use silk plants if you do not have pets or small children.

3-Replace Your Windows

Old windows can be drafty and provide little insulation for your home. Replacing them with new, energy-efficient windows will help keep the cold out in winter and the heat in during summer. You may also qualify for a tax credit if you replace the older style, single-pane windows that do not allow much natural light into your home.

Replacing your windows should be done in the spring or early summer when it is warmer outside. Find a professional who specializes in window replacements on an official site.

4- Replace Your Flooring

Your flooring is another area of your home that can be given a facelift. If you currently have carpet, now might be the time to replace it with hardwood or tile floors or luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). You may also want to look into adding ceramic and porcelain tile around areas like the fireplace, on the kitchen backsplash, or in the bathroom.

If you have hardwood floors, consider sanding them down and refinishing them with a darker stain to give your home an updated look.

5- New Furniture

Your furniture is a significant part of your home's look and feel. If you've had the same pieces for a while, it might be time to replace them with something new. You can change the entire feel of a room by simply changing the furniture.

Choose new furniture that reflects this style if you have a modern home. Add an ottoman, coffee table, or a comfy swiveling accent chair. If you're going for the farmhouse look, using an old-fashioned table and chairs might be what you need.

6- New Lighting

Lighting can also change the entire feel of a room. Whether it's bright lights or dimmed lighting, there are many different types of lighting to choose from. Consider changing the light fixtures if you're looking for a quick and easy way to give your home a facelift. Whether you live in a tiny studio apartment or an expansive house, there are different lighting options to fit your lifestyle.

7- Update Your Roofing

If your roof is old and needs repair, you may want to consider updating it. A new roof can add insulation to your home, keeping the heat in during winter and the cold out in summer. It can also help protect your home from bad weather. Consult with a professional roofer on an official site visit to get an estimate for the work.

After doing some research on new roofing materials in my local hardware store, I was surprised at how many color options there were! I especially loved the colored metal roof panels. I would love to add an aqua colored metal roof to my house one day!

8- Replace Old Cabinets

One of the best transformations in a home is new cabinets and closets. Whether you are interested in designing an entirely new kitchen or simply replacing some older cabinets, this can be one of the most budget-friendly improvements for any homeowner.

You do not require significant construction skills and tools, but if there were ever a time to consider hiring a professional, this would be it! Quality cabinets will improve the overall look of your kitchen and provide you with additional storage space.

If you update the cabinets, you can also update dingy old countertops with the help of some professionals. See how we did it on our YouTube channel “Carolyn Braden” or below:

Closets are another great way to redesign any room in your home. For example, if you have unsightly wire shelves or older wooden doors that do not close properly, replacing them is an excellent first step. You can also install shelving and hanging rods to make the most available space.

They say change is as good as a holiday. Giving your home a facelift is a great way to improve its look and feel for your comfort. There are many different ways you can do this, so it's important to choose the ones that will work best for your home and your budget. Using these ideas, you can give your home a new look that you'll love!
