What Is the Vermont Country Store?
The Vermont Country Store is an actual store in Vermont that has been owned by the Orton family since 1946. It began as a catalog filled with items that were useful, actually work and make sense to consumers. They have a customer bill of rights that is right on their home page and it makes you understand that you will always be taken care of when shopping their brand.
I’ve given this as gifts many times
They have expanded from catalog sales to now having stores, restaurants and more that you can visit and experience in person. They’ve been featured in numerous publications and TV, including the Martha Steward Show, The Today Show and more. Read more about them here.

Other than having really great quality items, The Vermont Country Store has things you cannot find elsewhere. They exclusively sell Tangee makeup and I love their Color Changing lipstick. Not only does it change to a beautiful pink color, but it lasts all day! I love their mineral bronzer and it lasts all day too!

The marzipan candy, shaped like beautiful little fruits, was a snacking favorite of mine as a kid. It tastes like almonds and I loved opening the box to not only smell them but also to see how each one looked like a little work of art.
Petit Fours are delicious!
My grandma gifted them to me along with petit fours, which are little tiny mini layer cakes. And they are delicious!

Their soaps smell divine too, especially their baby powder version. Buy the soap sampler like I did to try them all. My husband is intrigued by their cola syrup (it’s a stomach soother), so I know we’ll order that at some point.

The Peppermint Pig
We ordered the Peppermint Pig in 2024, and it was so fun to read about the tradition behind it while we whacked it with the included hammer.
Their maple candy advent calendar reminds me of the Friends episode where the Ross character goes to Vermont and eats a bunch of maple candy and goes crazy from a sugar high! It’s sugary, so don’t eat as much all at once like he did! According to Reddit readers, he wasn’t eating Vermont Country store maple candy, but I’m sure he would love it just as much or more!
