When enhancing your home, most people mainly focus on the interior designs and rightfully so, as it is essentially where you entertain your guests, prepare lunches and dinner parties, but what about your exterior designs? Outdoor enhancements are just as important as interior decoration for when you invite guests over for a lovely summer BBQ or garden tea party.

Therefore, creating a homey and welcoming backyard should also be a top priority. Unfortunately, decorating the outdoors can be somewhat of a challenge. You have to consider various elements, mainly weather conditions such as rain, harsh sunlight, wind and even snow.
Below are six ideas on how you can decorate your backyard.
1- Wall Decorations

There are various statement pieces that you can use for your outdoor area to give it that wow factor. The best wall decorations to use that will withstand whatever weather conditions mother nature has to offer would be metal wall art prints, wooden shutters, mounted pot plants; the list is endless. Everything depends on what your preference is and what type of atmosphere you would like to create, be it a rustic feel, cozy and even a calming ambience. You can let your creative juices flow!

First and foremost, paint your outdoor walls. Be bold and creative! You can choose a specific wall that will be the statement of your creation by painting it a bright and vibrant color or even cover the entire wall with wood. It is your wall in your backyard, and you can decorate it with whatever your heart desires.
Should you decide to paint your outdoor walls, a quick tip is to always ensure you use paint that is specifically formulated for the outdoors and durable to withstand all weather conditions.

Chairs or an outdoor couch is essential as you and your guests will need furniture to sit on and place your drinks. First, you can decide which furniture suits your needs and vision best. There are several outdoor materials to choose from, such as wooden chairs and tables, plastic or even metal furniture. Then, add a little special touch by decorating the chairs with bright, comfortable, removable cushions.
I added water resistant pillows to my patio furniture to help them last longer. Because I live in a warm, salty-air environment, I also try to stay away from metal furniture.
5- Add A Little Razzle Dazzle

When you invite guests for an evening BBQ or summer dinner, you want to ensure that everyone can see each other and their food when sitting down to enjoy the meal. Therefore, add some soft lighting to your backyard by considering hanging fairy lights in the trees or the roof, place a lantern here and there or even candles to set the mood.
My husband and I get tons of compliments on our outdoor solar torch lights. They last all night, make our yard look super cool, and look very realistic! They were definitely worth the splurge.
6- Just Add Water

Add a nice relaxing and calming water feature to your garden if you can, and your budget allows it. It does not have to be a massive fountain; remember, sometimes less is also more.
