When you're looking for inspiration for your next DIY project, it's not always easy to know where to look. Maybe you're bored of the usual channels, like blogs and interior design websites or property development shows. Finding inspiration and getting ideas that interest you, and that you're capable of pulling off, can be time-consuming and difficult.

However, there are other options you can explore if you want to discover DIY ideas for your home. You can get inspiration from some slightly more unexpected channels (like on my awesome website!) so that you always have fresh ideas.
Try some of these surprising ways to discover DIY ideas and find your next project.
Take Ideas from TV

Shows about property development or interior design are easy pickings if you're looking for DIY inspiration. But they're not the only shows where you can find ideas. A lot of these shows end up offering the same trends and ideas, which can get boring. But what if you can find interesting ideas from other TV shows and movies instead?
Pay attention to the set design in your favorite drama or the different settings that are used in the sitcom you're binging. These kinds of things can provide you with plenty of inspiration, from mid-century Mad Men to the '90s aesthetic of Friends.

Looking through flooring samples
Looking at stores can show you what's out there to buy, but there are other ways you might want to discover new products and ideas for your DIY projects. Sales companies that represent product manufacturers like Carrcompany.com can provide you with lots of information too.
You can look at their websites and social media pages, or you might consider going to trade shows and exhibitions. These types of services want to market their clients, and they'll tell you all about some of the latest products on the market.
Find Some Favorite Instagrammers

Social media is nothing new when it comes to looking for DIY inspiration. But if you usually stick to looking at blogs or Pinterest boards for ideas, you might want to branch out to Instagram. Some instagrammers focus purely on DIY ideas that can inspire your projects.
Others might share images and videos about other things but still help you to get some good ideas through showing their homes. You might even take ideas from instagrammers who are fixing up a mobile home or sharing their crafts and use them in your home. I am always sharing great DIY ideas on my Instagram!
Get Inspiration from Places You Visit

Inspiration for your DIY projects can be all around you. As you travel around and visit different places, take note of things that you like and ideas that you can use. You can do this when you visit different businesses or even when you go to the homes of friends and relatives.
Everything could potentially inspire you, even outside of the realm of interior design and renovation. You might be inspired by art or anything else that makes you think. My husband and I are often inspired by the homes we rent when we go on vacation. We also gain inspiration from staying at hotels.
Try these outside-the-box ideas to get inspiration for your DIY projects and do something a bit different.
