An EASY and QUICK weekend DIY project!

Renovations are never easy. They seem almost impossible BUT something I’ve learned in the last 12 years of my life: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

As we prepare to move out of our urban 1800’s home (and into a new home in a new state), I started looking at many of our “before” photos and realized that we did A LOT over the last 12 years. It was simply terrible before. It wasn’t clean, it wasn’t loved. It was a sad foreclosure in desperate need of some love. And we gave it just that.

Here are some photos of the kitchen area by the door that we converted into a “dog station”. We always needed a towel to wipe our dogs feet on when it rained, a space for their treats and waste bags, leashes and more. Because of wanting the area to look good but be functional, I utilized my organizational skills to come up with an easy solution for the space.

Here’s what I did:

added a bar and basket set from IKEA (the same set we have is no longer available, but I’m sure there are some other choices via IKEA or Amazon.com….I may try something like “Peter’s Goods Rustic Floating Wall Shelves from Amazon in our next home)
added a small hanging metal coated bucket (via IKEA) to house the remotes and other items that go with the small television that hangs above the dog station
added three BALL jars with lids to house treats, waste bags and small training tools
added three hooks via Anthropologie (they are called the “Streamline Hook” on their website and I like these because they don’t stick out too far which prevents us from hitting our legs on them or getting other things hung up on them)
small leashes (for backyard use only) via IKEA (Their daily walk leashes are hung up in a closet and we got those from Lupine Pets (not pictured))
a shammy for wiping their feet via Amazon (I chose the “Lamudo Bath Towel for Dogs and Cats)
a set of “dog bells” via Amazon (we hung them on the door knob and trained our dogs to use them to let us know when they need to potty)
a printable I made via the Canva app (I created one FREE for you to print….find it below!) hung in a 8x10 frame I purchased via Amazon

We moved to a new house in a new state in late 2020 and I had to create a new dog station. While I loved the first one I created, I loved the opportunity to create something a little different for the second time around.

Here’s how I put this one together:

I purchased a wire basket with hooks via Amazon
I kept the same cute printable design, but made it pearl pink and vertical
I kept the jar of treats and also added a jar for some feather decor
I kept the same shammy for wet feet
I added new leashes (ones that could be hooked to a waist belt for hands free walking)
I added two hanging fabric baskets to hold waste bags, a flashlight, and cooling bandanas
