Today marks the 7th installment in my Monday Mantra series.
I present to you "I Am Worth It".
Some may think saying things like "I am worth it" is a conceited thing. I don't think it is at all. Anyone that thinks you are full of yourself when you say something like "I am worth it" must not think much of themselves. As I've written before, you have to be your own cheerleader sometimes. How else do you think you'll ever get anything accomplished if you don't push yourself?
It's easy to keep smoking, drinking, laying on the couch watching tv/playing video games/surfing the internet and social media non-stop, eating excessively, and doing an abundance of other things that aren't great for ourselves. It's also easy to blame your current life on your past.
Want to change? Now is the time to do something that is not so easy. You've got to put in the work if you want results. Anything I've ever accomplished in life has required a lot of work. I know I'm not alone in this.
My husband and I had a brief conversation with one of my docs, Dr. Mizuguchi, and he concurred that starting his own business was A LOT of hard work. If you walked into his office, you would find things running very smoothly and see many happy faces. However, if you look even closer, you see blueprint plans for his new location on the wall, you see years worth of certifications and degrees hanging, and you feel an energy of lots of work happening.
During the conversation with Dr. Mizuguchi, I remember him saying this specifically: "I didn't know what to do the first day. I bought a computer and went from there." That's the one thing that stood out to me because we often think people have it all figured out, but even a super duper intelligent doctor like him doesn't know everything in life, but he's figuring it out.
Because we don't all "know it all", here's a tip: Stop doing what is "easy" if you are looking to make changes in your life, start the WORK. You may not know what you are doing or how to do it exactly, but you'll figure it out if you give it a chance.
If you remember anything from what I've written, remember this: No matter what you've been through or are going through, you are worth the same as everyone else. Just like an old penny, you are light waiting to shine underneath it all. If you've read any of my writing pieces you would know I've been through a lot, just like so many others, but I've managed to keep moving forward. You have to.
I know I am worth it.
If you, yourself, need to make a change, stop being so hard on yourself and on others. Simply say or write the mantra "I am worth it" over and over and over again. It'll stick eventually and then you'll have no choice but to make positive changes in your life. I promise.
Pets Are Worth It Too!

Remember your pets are worth it too! Pets often can serve as a great motivation if you truly watch them and study their behavior. If they want to play, play with them. If they want to walk, walk them. If they want their belly scratched, scratch it. (Don't, however, give them a treat whenever they want a treat. Pet obesity is not a good thing and every vet would agree with me on that one.)
When you do good things for your pets, both of you benefit health wise (happy brain power!). I still walk my arthritic 15 year old American Eskimo several times a week (when it's not too hot or too cold) and do brain activities with him to help his cognitive skills.
Example: We play "treasure ball". I found a ball that I could put three tiny treats in at Feeder's Supply in Louisville, KY. I give him one a couple of times a week. He has to figure out how to get the treats out and he always does! We also have a "treasure box" filled with toilet paper rolls. I drop a treat in there and he has to find it. It keeps his brain active for sure. He's given me so much love over his life, so I want to do the same for him. Thanks to my friend, Steve Bough, for these activity ideas!
Got a senior pet at home?
Here's an article on senior dog exercise tips and tricks that I liked.
We give our pets treats by Grandma Lucy's. We really love the plain sweet potato freeze dried chips!
Backstory on my mantra series:
A mantra is a word, phrase, or sound that is repeated to aid in meditation. You could also compare it to a sort of prayer. I feel my journaling and writing of my mantras is a form of meditation or prayer. It calms me and helps me make better sense of my feelings and all the thoughts swimming around in my mind.
I believe saying or writing something repeatedly, as you already have it, aids one in attaining dreams and goals. If you write something as you already have it, it makes you feel, somehow, as if it is truly happening no matter how drastic or scary it may seem. It's like a trick to help your brain catch up to what your heart desires.
