Why We Love CURVD Eco Friendly Earplugs

When our Maine Coon cat, Monica, was very young, she started “singing” at night. She’d come in our room and sing to us, assuming we needed to hear her beautiful voice while we tried to sleep. We tried shutting the door to our bedroom, but she simply sat in front of the door and continued her singing.

We thought to try earplugs and they magically became our restful sleep solution. While we loved getting our valuable sleep back, we weren’t too thrilled about how our spongy earplugs weren’t so great for the environment. The we found CURVD earplugs, tried them out and loved them. Read on to learn about our experience with CURVD Everyday Earplugs.

Monica still sings at night at 14 years old and CURVD helps!

Why Use Earplugs?

Most people don’t think about their hearing much until they start to have issues or become sensitive to noise or have a cat that night sings. While my cat’s night singing is one issue, I also notice that the older I get, the more sensitive I get to loud noises and I know I’m not the only one. According to the Cleveland Clinic, people can become sensitive to noise and it’s called hyperacusis.

You can become sensitive to noise for many reasons. I also know some autistic children that I taught years ago were very sensitive to noise. Hyperacusis is highly prevalent in people on the ASD (autism spectrum disorder). When those children were in my art classroom (which can get noisy), I would always try to keep the noise levels as low as possible. None came to my room with earplugs, but knowing what I know now, they probably should have. If you are sensitive to loud noises or certain sounds, or have a cat that sings at night, you may want to consider using reusable earplugs like CURVD.

CURVD Earplugs

Using earplugs is a good idea in general as our hearing is extremely important and needs to be protected. No one truly wants to have to use hearing aids at any point in their life, so protecting your hearing while young (and young at heart!) is very important. According to the Mayo Clinic, “more than half the people in the United States older than age 75 have some age-related hearing loss”. Even if you already have loss of hearing, it’s a good idea to protect what you have left and try using earplugs.

CURVD Products

I asked the people at CURVD to send me some to test and they did. They happily sent me their soft and molded Everyday Earplugs in Harmony Honey, their Earplug Case Clip and their Earplug Lanyard. I like that the earplugs came with a small silver aluminum case that had multiple soft removable tips in various sizes. If you only can afford to buy the earplugs, you’ll be fine with just that, but the case clip is nice because you can clip it on your keychain or purse and have it at your fingertips when you are on the go. The lanyard would be great to have if you are at a concert or somewhere where you would need to keep them in a convenient location for quick access.

How Much Sound Do CURVD Earplugs Block?

The size earplug tip that came already attached to the Everyday Earplug was perfect for my ear size, so I used that. They fit very comfortably in my ears and I instantly noticed the sounds around me softening. They have up to 30 dB (decibel, which is a measurement of sound) of sound reduction, so they soften the noises, not block them completely. If you are looking for them to fully block out all sound, these may not be for you.

CURVD Earplugs are made out of soft silicone

What are CURVD Earplugs Made Out Of?

They are very soft and made of eco-friendly silicone materials. Even the replaceable tips are small and won’t create a lot of waste when you need to replace them. I’ve worn the same tips for two weeks and have seen no breaking down and they have continued to stay in my ears every night (I am a back and side sleeper), so they are long lasting. I am much more confident in the tips being less intrusive to the environment than foam earplugs. Oh, those foam earplugs! My dog got ahold of one when she was a puppy and let me just say, when they come out the other end, they look exactly the same. They don’t break down at all.

My Sleeping Experience With CURVD

I slept throughout the night every night with testing and I did not wake up once. Sometimes other earplugs hurt my sensitive skin around my ear canal but these did not. No sore ears here! I was extremely pleasantly surprised how comfortable they were. I wore them every night for 2 weeks and they didn’t fall out of my ears one time. They are designed to fit the curve of your ear and I think the product designers did a great job with the overall product.

When I’ll Use CURVD Earplugs

I will be wearing CURVD Everyday Earplugs to sleep soundly at night for as long as I need them and think you’d like them too. Basketball games are always hard for me to attend (all those buzzers are a lot for me!), but CURVD will help with that. I like that they don’t block out all the noise because I could wear them to a game or a concert and still be able to have conversations with people around me without yelling.

I actually think these would be great for noisy office or work environments too. I remember working in a “quiet office” in the corporate world, but it was never quiet. People’s conversations, nail clipping (yes, this happened at my office often) and other noises would have been easier to deal with with these earplugs. My noise cancelling headphones were good, but sometimes I didn’t want to listen to music or the headphones hurt my ears, and the CURVD earplugs would have helped with that.

Bottom Line

Using earplugs are a good idea. While my experience with CURVD was extremely good, not everyone is the same. CURVD offers a Lifetime warranty and easy returns (within 100 days of purchase), so if they aren’t for you, there is no risk involved. If you are in the market for a great new everyday earplug give CURVD a try.
