Why DIY Gilded Magnet Frames Are Trending
After seeing all the gilded frames, walls and décor in the show Bridgerton on Netflix (also a book series by Julia Quinn), I was very inspired to add some gilded touches to my own home. I found a $5 set of three mini frames in the Bullseye section at Target and I knew instantly what to do with them.
Gilded decor instantly elevates any space, and magnets make it renter-friendly and endlessly customizable. DIY gilded magnet frames are popular because they are:
Budget-friendly compared to store-bought decor
No tools required
Removable and reusable
Perfect for small spaces and rentals
Stylish yet practical
Plus, a fridge gallery wall lets you rotate art and quotes whenever inspiration strikes.
Quick tip: Have a small ding on your fridge like we somehow have? Cover it with a magnet.
I love how they turned out!
How to Style a Fridge Gallery Wall
Creating a gallery wall on your fridge is all about balance and personality:
Mix motivational quotes and personal photos
Vary frame sizes for visual interest
Keep a consistent color palette
Arrange in a grid or relaxed organic layout
Leave space for practical items like notes, grocery lists or calendars
The best part? You can change the layout anytime—no holes, no commitment. You can style them with fun Perler magnets like I made in this full tutorial or you can see me making them in my fun YouTube video via my channel @carolynjbraden:

Supplies You’ll Need
Links go out to either the brand website, Amazon, CVS, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, or Lowe’s where we source our supplies based on discounts, budget and pricing. You can make these frames with affordable craft supplies—many you may already have at home:
Lightweight mini frames (mine were metal and from Target but you can find similar ones on Amazon here, use wood, resin, or plastic, mine weren’t magnets until I added them, but you can buy frame magnets here on Amazon)
Acrylic paints (I used a pink from this set on Amazon)
Gold paint, gold leaf, or rub-on gilding wax (I used DecoArt Extreme Sheen 24k Gold)
Small craft brush or sponge
Strong adhesive magnets or magnetic sheets
Motivational quotes, prints, or photos (I created mine in Canva and printed them out)
Rhinestones and pearls (I used this pink rhinestone set and this gold rhinestone set which both come with glue that you can use and a wax pencil)
Optional: clear sealer spray
How to Make DIY Gilded Magnet Frames
Step 1: Prep Your Frames
Remove the backing and the glass or plastic. Lightly clean the frame surface so the paint adheres smoothly. I removed the “easel” that mine had easily with a safety blade cutter as it was merely glued on.
Removing the frame stand
Step 2: Paint
Brush on a colorful paint. I used pink and applied two coats. Once it was dry, I used a small brush to paint on a light layer of gold paint. Don’t worry about perfection—slight texture gives a high-end, antique look. Let dry fully.
Adding my favorite color!
Step 3: Seal (Optional)
If your frames will be handled often, apply a clear sealer to protect the finish. I didn’t use a sealant.

Step 4: Apply Rhinestones and Pearls
Use Liquid Fusion glue in small amounts and a wax tip pencil to apply rhinestones and/or pearls as desired.
Blinging them up!
Step 5: Attach Magnets
Glue magnets securely to the back of each frame. My magnets had sticky backing, but I still glued my magnets to the frame backing for extra security. Let them cure completely before use.

Step 6: Insert Your Art
Add motivational quotes, photos, or mini prints and reassemble the frame. I used the frame paper as a template so I was able to make a perfect cut.
Final Thoughts
DIY gilded magnet frames are a simple way to upgrade your fridge into a chic, functional gallery wall. This project proves that stylish home decor doesn’t have to be expensive or permanent—it just needs a little creativity.
Whether you love motivational quotes, family photos, or rotating seasonal art, this DIY lets your personality shine in the most unexpected place.
