I just wanted to share my love of beauty and hair styling with anyone interested. In the video below, I show you how to use Jones Road Miracle Balm and The Face Pencil as well as give you lots of tips and tricks for using balm makeup.
Just an FYI: Jones Road is a cosmetics brand created by Bobbi Brown, formerly of the Bobbi Brown cosmetic line. She created the Bobbi Brown line, sold it, spent some time renovating a hotel with her husband as well as many other things, and now has started this new brand. At the time of me writing this, Jones road is about 5 months old and will be expanding their line.

If you don’t have time to watch the video (below), here are lots of things I’ve learned about using balm types of makeup:
Less is more. When I brushed on the Jones Road Beauty Miracle Balm with a foundation brush, it tended to be a little tacky. As in, sticky. I brushed on a thin layer and it never seemed to dry. I want to be able to hug my fur babies without their hair sticking to my face and when using this all over my face (as many of the Jones Road tutorials show you to do), this is not possible.
Balm-type of makeup tends to break me out. I’ve tried the RMS Beauty balms (all of them, including the Living Luminzer, bronzer, blush and lip balms) as well as the Jones Road Miracle Balm and they all broke me out if I put them on my bare skin. I have large pores so their heavier balm consistency must clog them and cause the breakouts. Jones Road broke me out severely when I used it on my bare skin.
Balm makeups tend to give you a no makeup-makeup look, so they are very sheer. They usually look really intense in color in the packaging, but when you spread them out onto your skin, they are very sheer. I chose the Jones Road Miracle Balm in Dusty Rose and it looked like light pink-ish purple color on my skin tone.
After lots of trials, I ended up figuring out how to make balm makeups work for me instead of against me. I use them as lip balms and as highlighters OVER my regular (It Cosmetics CC Cream) foundation. I take a little balm in between my fingers, then tap it onto my skin in areas where I wouldn’t break out. This is my lips, cheekbone area and the areas on either side of my forehead. They give my skin a glow-y look when used like this. Also, when used in small amounts like this, they aren’t quite as sticky, meaning I can hug my fur babies without worry.
Jones Road also has a makeup pencil called The Face Pencil, which also broke me out when I used it on my bare skin. It does spread very well onto the face, so I was able to use it as an under eye concealer (which it didn’t break me out in this area).
Watch the video below for all my tips and tricks! Sending my light and love to anyone who needs it!
