Our 9 year old Maine Coon, Monica, is still very active and mischievous! Today’s comic was inspired by her getting into my new haul of wool and yarn. I put it on a table and everything was tucked deep inside the brown paper bag thinking it’d be safe from the cats.
On a table? Like cats can’t jump?!
Tucked deep inside a brown paper bag?! Brown paper bags are among their top favorite places to hide!
Yep, I was a dummy.
OF COURSE MONICA GOT INTO IT! Being 9 years old does not stop her from wanting to play or do all the things very young cats do. She still loves to play with toys and yarn, she still loves to be hugged and held, she still loves to explore new places when we travel. Older cats still need just as much love and attention as younger cats.
My sister-in-law has a cat, Precious, that is around 17 years old. She’s not the sweetest cat towards strangers, but she is super loving towards my sister-in-law. In her old age, she loves to frequent the patio, loves treats and still does mischievous things. My Nani (maternal grandmother) had a cat, Molly, that lived to be 18 and she was very agile even at that age.
Age, when it comes to felines, really doesn’t matter. If you are considering adopting or buying a cat, don’t dismiss welcoming an older feline into your home. They are loving, playful and can make wonderful companions to older and younger people alike.
Sending you light and love and a happy Friday!
