Stop Wasting Expensive Cleanser—Try This $7 Hack Instead
If you’ve ever felt like your favorite cleanser disappears way too fast (especially the pricey ones), you’re not imagining it. Most of us are overusing cleanser without realizing it—and literally washing money down the drain.
So, I tested a simple, affordable solution: a $7 marshmallow whip maker (I actually got it for $5 when it went on sale…score!). And honestly? It completely changed how much product I use—and how my skin feels after cleansing.

What Is a Marshmallow Whip Maker (and Why Use It for Skincare)?
A marshmallow whip maker is a small handheld tool designed to turn liquid or gel cleansers into a dense, fluffy foam—similar to those luxurious foaming cleansers you’d find in high-end skincare lines.
Instead of applying cleanser directly to your face, you:
Add a tiny amount of product to the container
Mix with a tiny amount of water (mine had a fill line printed on it)
Pump it into a rich, airy foam
👉 The result: more coverage, less product, and a gentler cleanse
Remedy whipped up fast!
My $7 Skincare Experiment (What I Tested)
I tested a Nooni $7 whip maker with a mix of luxury, drugstore, gel, and powder cleansers to see if it actually works across different formulas. There are others on the market like this set on Amazon, but I cannot attest to their performance as I have not tried them.
I use these products, and switch based on my skincare needs.
Here’s what I tried:
Pixi Beauty Skintreats SuperBerry Cleansing Whip (gentle exfoliating cleanser)
Remedy Skin Care Cream to Foam Cleanser (body + face friendly)
EvolveTogether Rosemary Enzyme Powdered Cleanser (travel-friendly + softening)
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Hydration Revival Cleanser (ultra-hydrating)
ZO Skin Health Gentle Cleanser (classic everyday gel)
Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser (perfect for sensitive skin)
It even worked on this great powder cleanser!
The Results: Does It Actually Save Money?
Short answer: YES—big time.
Every single cleanser I tested transformed into a beautiful marshmallow-like foam using just the tiniest amount of product.
I love using it…it’s fun and luxurious
What I noticed:
I used significantly less cleanser per wash
The foam spread more evenly across my face (use warm water for a spa-like cleaning experience)
My skin felt just as clean (if not cleaner!)
No irritation—even with sensitive-skin formulas
💡 The biggest win?
You can stretch your cleansers 2–3x longer, especially the expensive ones.

Why This Hack Works So Well
When you apply cleanser straight from the bottle, it tends to:
Sit in one spot
Require more product to spread
Be less evenly distributed
But whipping it into foam:
Increases surface area
Creates a gentler cleansing experience
Helps lift dirt and oil more effectively
Reduces friction on your skin
It’s basically turning any cleanser into a luxury foaming formula—without the luxury price tag.
It really works!
Best Cleansers for This Hack (From My Test)
Here’s how each one performed:
Best Exfoliating Feel, Most “Whip”: Pixi SuperBerry Cleansing Whip
Best Multi-Use (Face + Body): Remedy Cream to Foam Gentle Cleanser
Best for Travel: EvolveTogether Powdered Cleanser
Most Hydrating: Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cleanser
Best Everyday Gel: ZO Skin Health Gentle Cleanser
Best for Sensitive Skin: Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser
✔️ Verdict: All of them worked beautifully—even the powdered cleanser! Pixi created the most fluffy and thick foam of them all, but again, they all worked great. My skin still felt as clean as it did when using the cleanser without making it into whip, and maybe even cleaner. And it’s really fun to use!
My new go-to way of cleansing
How to Use a Marshmallow Whip Maker
Add a pea-sized amount of cleanser
Add a small amount of water..this is key! If you use too much water, it won’t give you super luswsh marshmallow foam.
Pump the handle up and down (I pump until I see it foaming out the top a bit)
Watch it transform into a fluffy foam
Apply to face and cleanse as usual
✨ Pro tip: Start with less product than you think—you’ll be surprised how far it goes.
