When we got our first American Eskimo puppy over 15 years ago, we didn’t jump into the purchase with a light heart. We researched the breed and made sure it would fit our lifestyle and personalities.
Any time you are considering getting any sort of pet, I highly recommend doing your research. Breeds and mixed-breeds are not “one size fits all”. So many people adopt or purchase pets because they are cute or popular and don’t put much thought into it. Then they bring home the pet and wonder why it’s so “crazy” or “mean” and not so cute anymore.
While my comics show the cuteness of pets, they also serve a larger purpose.
With each Friday Funnies post, I try to educate humans on all sorts of topics related to pets and their care. My husband and I have owned three dogs and four cats and one rabbit during our 19 years of being together and have learned a lot.
Here’s a list of some of my favorite educational posts related to comics that I have written over the past year. Read through them if you are considering adopting/purchasing a pet OR if you are struggling with the ones you currently have. Or, simply talk to your veterinarian. One conversation with your vet can really help!
I also LOVE the American Kennel Club website! It has so much information! https://www.akc.org/
The Cat Fancier’s Association also has a great website filled with lots of information: http://www.cfa.org
Even if you are not getting one “one breed” pet, I recommend you do research on lots of breeds so you can be in-the-know about tons of pet information.
I wish you a happy Friday!
Don’t forget my kids page- Tiny Treehouse Kids! I post my weekly Friday Funnies comic there too and it’s a kid and parent approved page!
