Clean Beauty Review with OGEE Luxury Organics

My search for better makeup that was cruelty free began in the year 2018. I had just got my dog, Minnie Pearl, a miniature American Eskimo, that was the absolute cutest little ball of fluff I had ever seen.

For some reason, her presence in my life created thoughts about how I could help animals everywhere live better lives. I started slowly phasing out products that were tested on animals in my beauty and makeup routine as well as in our household cleaning products.

This is the set I received in Golden Contour

Now, keep in mind, I completely understand I cannot save every animal in the world from animal testing, but I could at least spread the word about what I was doing. One person cannot change the world alone, but we can all start thinking about making small changes that will add up to become bigger changes.

Animal testing still exists, and you can definitely make changes by speaking out about it and/or speak with your wallet and stop buying products that are tested on animals.

The packaging is very easy to open, which matters in product design!

Over the years, I’ve phased out many products that I loved, but were still conducting animal testing. It’s a very fine line, as a brand can say something like “product not tested on animals”, but it can become very confusing as to whether or not something was tested on animals at some point in the product development process.

The caps fit on the tubes in a magnetic way

I get a lot of my information from the Cruelty Free Kitty website, as well as directly from product websites. Many brands have gotten better over the years to include information about animal testing to help me make a better buying decision. Many brands pay to have a Leaping Bunny certification, just like the brand Elizabeth Mott. Read about that brand in my article about their lip mask that I love by clicking here.

I used Amber to contour my forehead

In my process of becoming cruelty free, I have slowly phased out many brands, and will only look to include new brands in my beauty routine that are cruelty free. I also look for clean beauty brands like my latest awesome find, OGEE Luxury Organics.

I think you may like to see a beachy half-up hairstyle that definitely catches the vibe of the OGEE brand. See my 1 minute video tutorial below or via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:

If you don’t understand what qualifies as “clean beauty”, it’s a term that was created by marketing companies to classify a product as being made without certain harmful ingredients. You can read more about “clean beauty” on the goop website.

I used Carnelian and Topaz in my cheek area

While I am certainly not perfect on picking the best “clean beauty” or “clean food” (I do enjoy a Crumbl cookie every once in while!), I am working harder to understand ingredients and how they can affect my overall health. I encourage you to do the same.

As the saying goes “you are what you eat”, so if you are like my husband and I and try to eat organically and non-GMO foods, you should also try to use makeup and beauty products too. Your skin absorbs whatever you put on it, so you must think about that to help your overall health.

You can use the sticks on your lips too

I’m always on the lookout for new cruelty free and clean makeup products that work for my skin type, which is aging and combination (dry and oily). My skin is also sensitive to harsh chemicals and doesn’t always like it when I try new products. I reached out to OGEE to see if they’d send me some products to test, and they sent me their Contour Collections set in Golden Contour.

They definitely give my skin a healthy glow and match my hair

After doing some research on OGEE Luxury Organics, I’ve learned that they are certified organic, created with many natural pigments and completely cruelty free. You can learn more about their products and brand by clicking here.

It is considered a “luxury” brand, meaning it’s on the higher end of the pricing of makeup, but when a brand sets a higher price, you are often paying for the research, better quality ingredients and effectiveness. Think about it like shopping for groceries. Organic usually costs more at the grocery, but I pay for it and my health is doing really, really great!

My beautiful porch was the perfect place to model this brand!

The Golden Contour set came with 3 tubes of contouring product in three colors: Amber (sunkissed tan shimmer), Topaz (a matte rosy peach) and Carnelian (Luminous Coral Shimmer). I used them on my skin with no foundation and on my skin with foundation and despite their creamy and light texture, they worked great both ways.

I currently live in Southwest Florida, on Sanibel Island, and even thought I am writing this at the beginning of April, it’s already hot here. We have already had hot and humid Florida days at 80+ degrees (F). I applied the Topaz to my cheeks, the Carnelian to my cheeks and cheekbones, and the Amber to my forehead, and they actually stayed put all day.

Minnie Pearl definitely inspires me!

The creamy consistency is lightly pigmented, so I applied it in several layers to get the color I wanted. I gave each layer a few minutes to dry, which set it nicely and made it last. I’ve tried lots and lots of creamy types of contouring makeup and they often melt off my combination skin half way through the day, but this brand stayed on.

They kind of reminded me of Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty’s balm makeup line, but without the stickyness. The balm makeup I tested from Jone’s Road left my cheeks sticky and OGEE sticks did not. You can read my review of my Jones Road experience by clicking here. OGEE’s contour sculpted face sticks still look dewy when dry, but don’t feel heavy or sticky on my skin.

They also don’t make my skin look oily. It just looks healthy and natural. The Contour Collections is a set that also come in other colors, or you can buy the sticks separately.

OGEE makeup makes me smile!

I usually get a few breakouts when trying a new makeup product, but this one did not break me out, which made me really happy! I had zero reactions to the products, but if you have even more sensitive skin than me, you should always do a patch test to make sure it will work for you. The colors in my set gave me a sunkissed and glowy look that went perfectly with my current strawberry blonde hair color.

I am excited to try more of OGEE Luxury Organic products. They are certified organic, cruelty-free, gluten-free, natural, GMO-Free and made in the USA. If you are looking for a clean beauty brand that actually works, check out OGEE.
