Don’t you just love it when you are awoken slightly before your alarm clock goes off? When it happens to me, I always feel a little cheated out of something.
The something being SLEEP!
Fortunately, our cats don’t wake us up too often. When they do though, it’s because they are hungry, want attention, or there has been some sort of shift in the weather. While there’s not anything we can do about the weather, we can do something about giving them food or attention.
My husband has gotten into giving our cats (both Maine Coons, a female named Monica and a male named Ross) a little extra food before bedtime. We call it their midnight snack. And it’s ALWAYS gone come morning. Most of the time, this keeps them from waking us up and keeps them on target for how much food they should eat each day.
As far as attention, I’ll hold or pet them, even if it’s during our sleep time. Usually this helps satisfy a need they have, and they let us go back to sleep. It’s also nice and soothing to cuddle up next to a soft and furry kitty.
Maine Coon Feeding Tips:
Maine Coons eat quite a bit and have a special diet. Here’s a great article on MaineCoon.org about their specific food needs. We feed ours organic wet and dry food from the Castor & Pollux Organix line. We occasionally feed them single ingredient, non-GMO treats from Grandma Lucy’s.
Happy Friday ya’ll! Sending our light and love to anyone who needs it!
