How to Create a Winter Bling Beanie Hat
I’ve been blinging things up for a long while. It started with my wedding glasses (I added Swarovski crystals to our toasting glasses in the shape of our initials) and exploded into a passion after that. Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary was my first YouTube video series of crafting and I’ve loved every minute of doing just that. For this blingy project, I am blinging up a beanie hat as a winter craft idea. Read on to learn how to create a winter bling beanie hat.

Craft Glue vs. Hot Fix Rhinestones and Pearls
This bling hat project is one that I created in the car as we drove from Southwest Florida to Southern Indiana. I usually would do hot fix rhinestones or pearls on a beanie hat (it’s better for fabrics) but since I didn’t want to have anything heated up in the car, I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue to adhere the flatback pearls.

The results? Well, hot fix would have been better. It appeared as if I didn’t get quite enough glue in some areas and a couple of pearls popped off after wearing it once. So, the next hat I create, I’ll add directions to this article for hot fix rhinestones and pearls.
If you don’t have the time to hot fix rhinestones and pearls to a fabric item, like a hat, just know it will last for a little while, but not as long as hot fixing them. I have lots of pearls and the glue on hand, so I can replace them easily, but it is a bit annoying.

Now for the bling beanie project tutorial! You can choose any color hat or pearls. I really think my cream-colored pearl beanie combination would be gorgeous for a winter wedding.
Here’s what you will need:
Beanie Hat (It has a snap on fur pom pom, I got mine on Amazon but Temu has the same version and brand here)
Aleene’s Tacky Glue (Amazon or Walmart, as I wrote earlier, hot fixing the pearls would be best and I’ll include directions for that method at some point, but if you don’t have the tools or time, gluing works…be prepared to re-glue sometimes as some of my pearls popped off after wearing the hat for a while)
Wax pencil or rhinestone picker tool (Amazon, Walmart or Temu, I used my own and the one that came in the kit with the pearls)
Flatback Pearl Set (I got mine on Amazon, but would use hot fix version if I wanted it to last longer or be washable)
Supplies for the bling beanie
Directions:
Lay your hat out on a flat surface.
This would make a cute winter wedding hat
Place some glue where you want to attach the rhinestones.
This would also be a cute winter honeymoon fashion idea
Pick up a rhinestone with your fingers or a wax pencil and place on the glue.
For my design, I realized how heavy the pearls were making the top of the hat, so I changed my design from doing pearls all over the top to just a small section so the hat would lay right when I wore it.
I applied lines of glue and pearls around the base of the hat.
I lastly applied different sizes of glue and pearls sporadically all over the top of the hat.
I let it dry for 24 hours, then I wore it out during our visit in Indiana with friends and family. The Grinch even liked my hat….and my vintage faux fur coat too…he said we matched as we were both furry all over. I wore it to Charlestown Lights, and if you are in the southern Indiana area, it’s definitely worth the visit.
It was much colder in Indiana (34 degrees F!) than Florida at Thanksgiving, so I’m glad I wore the coat and created the hat to match. My grandma always said that hats help hold in heat and while my research is hit or miss on this as a fact, I still think she was right….if you are cold, try putting on a hat!
