The good news? A few viral beauty tools have become favorites among curly hair lovers for helping create bigger, fuller curls with less effort. From innovative drying technology to easy styling tools, these trending devices can help transform flat curls into voluminous, head-turning styles.

Finish with Volume-Boosting Styling Tricks
Even with the best tools, a few simple styling habits can make your curls look even bigger.
Try these quick tricks:
Flip your hair upside down and shake out the roots
Add dry shampoo at your roots to plump them up (Like Not Your Mother’s Plump for Joy or Viori…use code CAROLYNBRADEN to save 10% or my link)
Use SexyHair Powder Play at roots for beautiful volume that actually lasts for days
Use a wide-tooth pick to gently lift curls at the crown
Apply a lightweight volumizing mousse like Beachwaver Braid Balm (read how I use it here) before styling
Avoid heavy creams that weigh curls down
The goal is to create movement and separation, which helps curls appear thicker and fuller.
See how I use PowderPlay at my roots in my 1-minute tutorial below or via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:
Start with Braided Lift Using a Reverse Air Dryer
One of the biggest secrets to voluminous curls actually starts before styling—during the drying process. I tested braiding my damp hair and putting the braids in the RevAir to see if I could get beachy waves for added texture before curling my hair and it did just that! And it made the curls last over a day in the Southwest Florida humidity!
Try braids before you dry!
The RevAir Reverse Air Hair Dryer
The RevAir reverse air hair dryer (the link or my code CAROLYNREV gets you 10% off) has become a viral favorite thanks to its unique reverse-air suction technology. Instead of blasting heat at your hair, it gently pulls hair into the wand and dries it while stretching the strands.
You can dry more than one braid at a time with the RevAir
Why curly hair lovers love it:
Helps reduce frizz while drying
Creates smoother curls with natural movement
Adds lift at the roots
Can help reduce drying time
My waves were very defined
Because the airflow stretches curls slightly as they dry, your hair is left with a soft, voluminous base that makes styling much easier. Read my full tutorial for RevAir here.
Pro Tip: Braid your damp hair, adding in Beachwaver’s Braid Balm as you braid. Secure the ends with small elastics. Dry each braid (you can add more than one to the dryer at a time), allow to dry (my long normal thickness hair took about 3 minutes or so per braid), undo the braids and BOOM, you have texture, volume and waves. I curled the ends with my Beachwaver.

Add Defined Volume with a Rotating Curling Iron
If some sections of your curls look flat or uneven, adding a little extra definition with a curling iron can make a big difference. When I did the waves with the RevAir, I used my Beachwaver to add some curls to the ends and some larger curls throughout my hair to blend the waves and curls.

The result: super long-lasting curls and waves that looked beachy and cool!
Big bouncy wavy curls!
The Beachwaver Rotating Curling Iron
The Beachwaver rotating curling iron became viral because it automatically rotates with the press of a button, making it easy to create consistent curls. I have a multi-barrel version of the tool and a 1-inch version and I love them both. I believe it’s one of the best curling irons I’ve ever used and it never burns my hair. Read my full review for Beachwaver here.
Why it works well for curly hair:
Creates uniform curls that blend naturally with existing texture
Adds extra bounce to limp sections
Easy to use—even for beginners
Helps build volume by curling hair away from the face
For curly hairstyles, use the tool on top layers or face-framing pieces to add structure and fullness without restyling your entire head.
Pro Tip: Alternate curl directions (the Beachwaver twists in two directions) to keep the finished style looking natural and full.
I love these hair tools!
Boost Texture with a Rotating Curling Wand
Sometimes curls just need a little extra texture and shape to look fuller.
The TYMO CURLPRO curling wand is another viral styling tool designed to create quick, defined curls with minimal effort. Its automatic curling system helps guide hair into the barrel, making styling fast and easy. It really, really is QUICK as I can curl my whole head of long hair in under 10 minutes.
Why it’s great for volume:
Creates defined spiral curls that comes in different barrel sizes
Adds dimension to flatter sections
Helps revive day-two or day-three curls
Works well for quick touch-ups
Use it on small sections throughout your hair to build layers of curls, which naturally increases the appearance of volume. I like being able to direct the tool to go in different directions and I love how long the curls last. The ceramic barrel, in my opinion, and the allowance of multiple heat settings what makes this tool amazing.
Pro Tip: Lightly finger-separate curls after styling to create a fuller look.
These curls lasted for two days
Final Thoughts
Flat curls happen to everyone—but the right tools can make a huge difference. Viral beauty devices like the Beachwaver rotating curling iron, TYMO CURLPRO curling wand, and RevAir reverse air hair dryer help create lift, definition, and bounce that make curly hairstyles look fuller and more polished.
With the right combination of smart drying, strategic curling, and volume-friendly styling techniques, you can easily transform flat curls into big, bouncy, beautiful hair.
