"Let it flow, let yourself go, slow and low, that is the tempo." --Beastie Boys
I've felt a huge push lately to slow down. It could be the change of the seasons, but I also know it's time. I have been creating a mile a minute lately and now it's time to slow my pace. That's how my creativity works. It comes in big rushes, and I work and work and work, and then it slows down a little. It picks back up again when the time is right.
Right now, it's time for me to sit back and do a little living and observing. That's how I gain all that creative inspiration--from living my life.
I loved the little hummingbirds I observed at my feeder the other day........simply beautiful. They definitely gave me a great inspiration. When inspiration happens, I write my ideas in an idea journal. I know I don't have to do all the things I write, but it's a part of my process.
I actually started writing a children's book around my hummingbird observation, but what came out was definitely not right, so I set it aside for a while. I'll execute the story when it's time. How will I know when it's time? I just will. I can't explain it really, as it's just a feeling I get.
If anyone else feels the need to slow down a little, do it. Your body and mind will thank you. You'll gain inspiration, ideas, and probably some well-deserved rest. For those that are saying "I can't slow down! I have too much to do!", take a chill pill man. More than likely, you are putting the pressure on yourself to do all that you do. Start doing more prioritizing and list making. See what needs to stay and what needs to go. That's the only way you'll come out on top.
