I do my best to always keep my house tidy and neat. I strive to put things where they go as soon as possible.
I do this for a couple of reasons.
It helps me think better. I am a firm believer in the concept “A clear environment is a reflection of a clear mind.” I don’t feel right when I’m surrounded by clutter. It almost seems as if clutter in an environment actually clutters my mind. I’m not the only one who feels this way. According to Psychology Today, clutter can actually cause stress, lack of concentration and more. This article by Dr. Sherry Bourg Carter explains why.
It helps my animals from harming themselves. Clearing clutter prevents my animals from eating something they aren’t supposed to, tearing up something that doesn’t belong to them and more. It’s a safety thing.
While we do our best to put things away quickly, sometimes we leave something out for a minute too long. Yesterday my husband laid his black coat down on our dining room table instead of hanging it in the closet. Our Maine Coon, Monica, found it and laid on it. And she stayed there for several hours.
When she finally got up, the jacket had a small layer of her fur on it. Good thing we stock up on lint rollers…….
Happy Friday ya’ll! Sending our light and love to anyone who needs it!
