Ahhh…potty training a new puppy. So much fun! Just when we think we are making progress, our 3 month “young” American Eskimo (Minnie Pearl), reverts back to her “potty-ing anywhere in the house” mental state.
We exercise LOTS of patience during this process. It’s frustrating, but we know her mind is still forming and she is still learning what we like and what we don’t like.
She’s actually doing the same with us.
We used “potty bells” with our other dogs and they caught on fast. They rang the bells we hung on the door when they needed to go. Minnie Pearl has caught on to ringing the bells very fast, but she does it simply to go outside; not to go potty.
Yet.
I keep reinforcing the use of them time and time again and I know she’ll get it, just like everything else I’ve taught her.
In the meantime, we use plenty of Nature’s Miracle to clean up her messes and to resolve odor. We like the product mostly because it doesn’t have a bunch of ingredients we can’t pronounce. I also like it because my cats don’t bother any of the spots where she has gone. It has enzymes which greatly reduces the smell of urine and I think it’s very effective. That’s just my opinion though. This is not an ad….just sharing what we’ve learned and like!
Happy Friday ya’ll! Sending our light and love to anyone who needs it!
