Getting your cat out of the carrier at the vet when it’s shot time…..oh the fun! We took Monica, our Maine Coon, to the vet this week for her annual rabies vaccine and she put on her 5-toed “breaks” when the vet assistant, Nickie, was ready for her.
We finally got her out of the crate, Nickie gave her the shot, and she was done! I think it took more time getting her out of the crate than getting the actual shot………..
Monica, like most Maine Coons, is a 5 toed cat. Our other Maine Coon, Ross, is a 6-toed polydactyl.
Writer Ernest Hemingway loved polydactyl cats. We visited Key West (location of the Hemingway Home and Museum) years ago, and there were quite a few cats around the island. We loved petting them as they roamed freely around town. According to the Hemingway Home website, there are approximately 40-50 polydactyl cats that belong to the property.

Happy Friday ya’ll! Sending our light and love to anyone who needs it!
