How To Stop Nosy Neighbors Looking Into Your Home

While you may consider yourself to be a friendly human being, even the friendliest humans can have a problem with nosy neighbors. Invading anyone’s space by snooping in on them while at home isn’t appreciated.

However, it does happen. Nosy neighbors do exist and they don’t have the best stealth skills when it comes to keeping it on the down low. They’re often very obvious!

To help prevent nosy neighbors from looking into your home, there are a few preventative tips worth mentioning.

1- Purchase day and night blinds

Install privacy blinds to prevent nosy neighbors

Day and night blinds offer the best of both worlds without needing to faff about with winding them up and down on a daily basis. Unlike typical blinds, you can enjoy natural daylight with blinds that reveal the outside world. However, when it comes to the evening, these blinds can change opaque completely.

This results in no nosy neighbors being able to peer into the home. If you want, you can always keep the nighttime function on at all times.

2- Incorporate some tall trees and shrubs

To help get ahead of oneself when it comes to stopping nosy neighbors from snooping in, a focus to put your attention to is the garden. This is often the place that most neighbors will be able to look into.

With that being said, think about incorporating some tall trees and shrubs to block out their visibility. As long as it doesn’t obstruct their view beyond your home, it’s easy enough to put these in place.

3- Install fencing

Fencing is a more secure solution to help avoid any neighbors from stepping onto the property without your permission. A fence company can come along and install some appropriate fencing that’s suitable for the type of property and needs that you may have.

This fencing doesn’t need to be too obstructive and for home security, it’s a great benefit to have, in order to feel safe.

4- Set up CCTV

Home security cameras can help with nosy neighbors

A good way of helping deter neighbors from coming into the backyard or staring into it is by setting up CCTV. CCTV is a great way of making sure that their faces are seen on your cameras when they fancy snooping in on your property.

For some, it may be a worthwhile thing to have in place in order to deter some neighbors from continuing their intrusive behavior. When a camera is pointed at them, they’re less likely to want to involve themselves in any potential backlash.

If you are a DIY-er like we are, consider installing a camera systems yourself like the eufy Security 2C 4-Cam Kit. We love that has 3-Month Local Storage, which means you can securely store up to 3 months of recordings via the 16GB eMMC. They are weatherproof and have great night vision, making them a great outdoor security option.

5- Confront them

Getting along with your neighbors is important for peace of mind

To stop nosy neighbors, sometimes confronting them is the only option left. When it’s bordering on harassment, confront them and understand why it is they may be prying in on your privacy. They may have a valid reason, but chances are there are more inappropriate intentions. Don’t be afraid to resort to calling authorities if they’re unwilling to stop snooping.

Nosy neighbors can be anywhere and everywhere depending on where you find yourself living. Make sure to follow these tips to help protect your privacy and to prevent nosy neighbors from disrupting your peace.
