The Hairy Problem

When I travel, I am always stuck with deciding how many hair tools to bring. I LOVE my hair tools and when I am limited with space in a carry-on, I really have to think about my needs. I always wash my hair during travel, so I need a hair dryer, which can add some weight to luggage. Then, when I add curling irons or flat irons and more, my bag gets heavier and heavier.

The Mind-Blowing Solution

After loving so many of my other Wavytalk hair tools, I opted to try out their mini hot air brush, the Wavytalk Dual Voltage Hair Dryer Brush for International Travel so I could travel domestically and abroad with it.

Other WavyTalk Products I Love:

—I have their hairdryer (Amazon, $64 or get it via Walmart) and travel with it. If my Dyson quits, I’ll use this one full time as it seriously gives me the same perfect results.

—I have their skinny curling wand that gives me fun and tiny spiral curls when I’m feeling a super curly hair day coming on. (Amazon, $23)

—I adore their Pro Steam Hair Straightener Brush (Amazon, $63 or get it via Walmart) that gives me super sleek straight hair with steam!

—I also have the Wavytalk thermal brush. See my tutorial for that brush here and in my YouTube video above or via my channel @carolynjbraden:

After putting this new budget friendly mini hair tool to the test (I’m very particular about my hair), I can truly say this is a great styling tool! If you travel internationally with it, you will still need an adapter plug, but because it’s dual voltage, it will be completely safe to use when traveling the globe. If you are wanting more information about travel adapters, read this article from Conde Nast Traveler.

What’s Good About the Wavytalk Dual Voltage Mini Hot Air Brush?

I have another hot air brush that I like (the REVLON One Step, Amazon, $30), but it’s a bit heavy and bulky and not really ideal for traveling. It also is pretty basic with two temperatures and speed settings.

The Wavytalk Mini Hot Air Brush, is much smaller AND has an ion generator that helped me see instant smoothing results without any static. The biggest surprise is that it is SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT at under 1 lb, making it an ideal travel hair companion. It will fit perfectly in my Hulken Schlep Stack and Hulken Carry-On (read about my love of the Hulkens here and get a discount!).

It has three temperature settings, with hot being a great temperature to dry your hair, then the warm setting is a perfect styling temperature, and the cool setting can set a curl and make it last. It dried my long hair in under 15 minutes and that makes it a time saver too!

The brush is a 2-inch oval brush and because it’s mini, it truly makes it easier to get a lot of lift at your roots for a more defined and voluminous blowout. The ceramic-titanium barrel with the ion generator created very sleek and shiny results for my wavy hair.

How to Use the Wavytalk Dual Voltage Mini Hot Air Brush

For my testing, I started with freshly washed and slightly air-dried hair. I skipped my usual heat protect spray because it has a heat setting that goes from 95 to 195 degrees, making it a gentler heat tool. I also wanted to test this heat on my naked hair.

I turned the brush onto a high speed (using the slider button) and the highest temperature (I pressed the push button until it was the red color) and ran the brush through the front of my hair several times. It dried it quick! I rotated the brush to give the ends of my hair some curl.

Adding volume at my roots is easy with this brush

I continued using the hot heat setting to dry my hair almost all the way. I also placed the brush on my crown and used it to lift my hair to add volume. I used the medium heat setting (I pressed the push button until it was purple) to add some bend/large curls, and I used the cool setting (pressing the push button until is was blue) to lock in the curls.

My hair stayed sleek and smooth all day, and that’s saying a lot with me testing it in humid Southwest Florida weather in the summer! At under $50, this hair tool will be going with me on my next trip! Get it on Amazon.
