How to Refresh Wavy Hair on Day 4 Without Washing It
It’s night 4. My hair definitely needs washing. But do I feel like washing it? Absolutely not. 😂
I usually wash my hair every third night, but sometimes a girl just doesn’t have the time—or the motivation—to do a full wash day. Instead of throwing my wild wavy hair into a ponytail or bun that tends to hurt my head sometimes, I have a quick day 4 wavy hair refresh routine that helps me get another good hair day.
This is my Problem Solution Girl solution for refreshing wavy hair without washing it!

K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo for Day 4 Hair
Step 1: Start with Dry Shampoo
First, I shake my K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo really well and apply it to my roots to absorb oil and grease.
I love that this dry shampoo is so lightweight and doesn't leave a noticeable residue. It feels a little wet when I first spray it on, but it dries quickly and doesn't seem to ruin my natural waves, texture, or hairstyle.
Brushing Day 4 Wavy Hair With a Boar Bristle Brush
Step 2: Brush It Out
Next, I brush through my hair with my Teleties boar bristle brush.
This helps smooth everything out and gets my hair ready for the next step.
I Love My DIY Sea Salt Spray for Refreshing Wavy Hair
Step 3: Reactivate My Waves
Now it's time to bring those waves back to life!
I use my DIY moisturizing sea salt spray and scrunch it into my hair to reactivate my natural waves and curls.
I make my own sea salt spray, and you can find my recipe here on my website. If DIY isn't your thing, I also like Sun Bum Sea Spray and Bumble and Bumble Sea Spray.
Bonus: The sea salt spray makes my hair smell SO good!
K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask for Softness
Step 4: Add Some Moisture
Because my hair has gone several days without washing, I like to add some softness back in with K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask.
I use just a little as a leave-in conditioner to help soften my hair and tame some of the frizz without weighing down my waves.
Sun Bum Surf Hair Paste for Defining Waves
Step 5: Define Those Waves
Finally, I add a little Sun Bum Sonny's Surf Hair Paste to my hands and work it through my hair to define my waves and curls.
And the smell? Tropical banana. 🍌 It literally smells like vacation!
Final result: shiny, clean smelling and TAMED 4th day hair!
The Result: Another Good Hair Day!
Then I let my hair air dry and that's it!
My day 4 hair goes from “I definitely need to wash this” to “Wait…maybe I can get one more day out of this!” 😂
This quick wavy hair refresh helps absorb excess oil, bring my waves back to life, add some moisture, tame frizz, and make my hair smell fresh again—all without starting a full wash day.
Because sometimes the best hair solution is simply not washing your hair tonight.
