Thanksgiving Overall Outfit Idea

I created a comfy casual outfit to go with my hairstyle

The Creative Inspiration

During the holidays, I usually do most or all of the cooking. I tend to heat up (like the food!) when I’m moving around as much as I do, so I usually need a way to get my hair out of my face. In the holiday season of 2024, I did a tutorial for Space Buns, which is a super cute hairstyle that definitely gets your hair out of your face and off your neck.

Creating a Softer Style

For 2025, I came up with an easy way to get my hair out of my face, but I knew I wanted my hair to be down. Sometimes when my hair is up in bun or any up-do all day, I tend to get headaches. I’ve been wearing my hair down more often, which creates a softer, more natural hairstyle.

This is a simple twist of how I wear my hair daily, usually curled and down, but the simple wavy braid gets your hair out of your face for a hassle free yet stylish day!

How-to:

I created this holiday hairstyle (I created it around the Thanksgiving season) on third day hair, as I wash my hair every three days. I first added some Viori dry shampoo to my roots and brushed it out. This helps absorb oil and gives your hair a little texture and volume. Use this link to buy any Viori product for 10% off or use my code CAROLYNBRADEN at checkout on their website. It’s plastic free, smells delicious and works well with many hair colors.

Next, I brushed it out with an Unbrush and smoothed in some Pureology Glow Catcher Oil for heat protection. I used the skinniest attachment on my Beachwaver Multi Barrel curling iron to curl all my hair, parting it on one side.

I love Glow Catcher Oil for super great hair hydration

After the curls cooled, I used my wide tooth comb (see how I blinged it up here) to brush out the curls a bit. I braided a section of hair around the front of my face and secured it with a hair color matching bobby pin after creating a wave a bit with it. I wanted it to look like a vintage hairstyle slightly.

Creating a wavy braid is easy!

I used my fingers to separate the braid a bit to make it wider. I added some Powder Play at my roots to add lasting volume (I’ve used it for years and it is amazing!) and I teased my hair at the crown a bit too using a teasing brush.

Adding hairspray and lasting texture

I sprayed it with some hairspray (I like this one) after adding a bit more Glow Catcher oil and the style was done!
