Broken Makeup Pencil Cap? Try This Easy Replacement Solution

Broken Makeup Pencil Cap? Try This Easy Replacement Solution

If you love a good beauty bargain, you probably know my love for Wet n Wild lip liners and eyeliners. They’re inexpensive (many are often under $2!), they work great, and honestly, what’s not to love?

Well…their caps. 😂

The product may be a beauty bargain, but the caps? Not always so much.

When the cap on one of my favorite Wet n Wild eyeliners cracked and broke, I decided I was NOT throwing away a perfectly good eyeliner just because its cap had given up on life.

See how I added life to my flat lipstick in my short video below via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:

My husband suggested a wire nut. I gave it a try. It didn’t stay on.

Then I tried using a cap from a lip brush. That worked better, but I still wanted the lip brush to have its cap!

So, naturally, Problem Solution Girl went to the internet. 🔎

I Found a Better Makeup Pencil Cap Solution

After scouring the internet, I found replacement caps designed to work with beauty pencils—and I am officially keeping a pack on hand from now on.

My favorite option is a hard plastic cap with a squared-off base opening lined with silicone. The silicone helps it stay securely on the pencil, while the squared base means it doesn’t constantly roll off my makeup vanity.

And if you’ve ever watched a makeup cap roll under your vanity and disappear into another dimension, you know exactly why this matters. 😂

I found a set of six colorful caps on Amazon, and I love that they’re bright enough that I can actually SEE them sitting on my desk. No more spending ten minutes hunting for the tiny clear cap that rolled away five minutes ago.

There are also other caps on Amazon like these:

I also found some replacement cap alternatives at Walmart that are nice options, too.

Don’t Throw Away Good Makeup!

This is one of those little life problems that seems silly—until it happens to you. It’s a makeup hack that I will use for the rest of my life.

If you have a favorite eyeliner, lip liner, brow pencil, or other beauty pencil that is still perfectly good but has a broken or missing cap, don’t toss the product just yet!

Order yourself a pack of replacement caps and keep them in your makeup drawer or vanity. Then, when a cap cracks, breaks, or mysteriously disappears, you’ll already have my Problem Solution Girl solution ready to go.

Because replacing a tiny plastic cap is a whole lot better than throwing away perfectly good makeup!

Problem solved. 💄✨
