I Bought the Viral Lace Slip Skirt and Here’s How to Style It

I started seeing a lace slip skirt show up in my social feeds in late 2024 and it was cute, versatile and inexpensive. It was all over TikTok for days, making it a viral trend item for sure. I decided to buy it and see if it could be styled as many ways as other influencers were saying it could be. Here’s my results of my viral lace slip skirt style ideas.
I bought the slip skirt in black
When I first got the lace slip skirt, my husband’s first question was “do people even wear slips anymore?”. I had just watched an episode of Friends (The One Where On-One’s Ready), where the character Monica is wearing a strapless slip while calling and leaving messages from her former boyfriend, Richard. It was a good question, and I was able to answer “yes, remember Monica and her silky dress?”.
A concert tee makes it turn into a great date night outfit
Monica was about to put on a very silky slip style dress (extremely popular in the 1990’s) and a slip is a great addition if a dress is silky (silky dresses show everything!) and if the dress material is on the thin side. I wear slips to prevent my dresses from clinging to me too. If I’m not wearing a basic slip, I like shapewear or bra tanks too. I love to layer to make my clothes lay on my body better.

This viral lace slip skirt is more than a basic slip as it’s lined and meant to be worn as a skirt instead of being completely hidden under a dress. It has an elastic waistband, making it super comfy and good for many body types.

It’s not the most well-made item I own, but as far as trends, I usually don’t worry about it holding up for a long while. It’s low priced, which is also something I look for in trendy clothing items. It can be worn year-round, especially if you layer it. I washed it and steamed it with my handheld steamer before wearing it to make the pleats lay flat.

I borrowed my husband’s tee for this lace slip skirt style idea
Concert Tee + Black Viral Lace Slip Skirt
The first way I styled the skirt was with one my husband’s Smashing Pumpkins tees. You can get a similar tee here on Amazon. I layered a bra tank under the shirt and then put on the skirt and topped it off with the shirt and tall suede heeled black boots (here’s a similar pair on Amazon). It makes for a great concert outfit, date night outfit or a night out with friends

The next way I styled the skirt was with a bra tank and the skirt with an oversized blazer I already had in my closet. Find a similar blazer here on Amazon. I added some black suede heels and I was office ready. Add some tights if it’s cold outside.

The last way I styled it was with a cream-colored cowl neck sweater that I already had. Here’s a similar sweater on Amazon. I layered the bra tank underneath so the sweater would not be too scratchy, as many sweaters are. I added my own suede heeled boots and I was ready for errands and more.

How to Style the White Viral Lace Slip Skirt
Paris Sweatshirt + White Viral Lace Slip Skirt
For the white skirt, I paired it with a Paris Sweatshirt (it’s embroidered and I got it at Target, but I can’t seem to find it anymore, so here’s a similar one on Amazon). I paired it with gold jewelry and flat riding boots.

For the next white skirt styling, I paired it with a cute happy face sweater hoodie that I got on Temu in 2023 for around $23. Here’s a link to it on Temu.

I also added some heeled riding boots, but the flat ones would work too. I pulled my hair into a low side pony and added my daily simple gold jewelry.

Green Puffy Sleeve Hoodie + White Viral Lace Slip Skirt
I also tried styling it in a more casual way with sneakers and it worked. I added a green puffy hoodie that I got on Temu for around $12 (get it here on Temu).
I didn’t add tights because I currently live in Sanibel, where on the day I took these photos it was 80 degrees outside in mid-November. If I was in a cold climate, I would wear tights in the fall and winter with this.

I put my hair in a messy bun, my simple daily gold jewelry and was ready to go. It’s very comfy. Because it’s white-ish, it may need a bit of a slip or shorts under it. It has a lining but it is sheer. I always wear long bra tanks which do the trick.
