The holiday season always had me trying to figure out the perfect outfit and hairstyle to wear to friends and family homes. Once I had the outfit picked out, I figured out a cute way to style my hair. Here are some of my favorite holiday party hairstyle ideas along with the hair tutorials so you can create them yourself! These holiday hairstyles are easy and quick and perfect for many hair lengths and types.

I always like to style my hair every day, however, during the holidays I get an itch to create some festive styles. I love glitter, so adding it to some hairstyles. Wearing glitter is not just for kids….I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow it. See some more grown-up ways to wear glitter from this article from Cosmopolitan.

The Hairstyles + Products + Discount

If you don’t want to wear glitter in your hair, there are plenty of ways you can style your hair in a festive way. Let’s take a look at some of my holiday hairstyles I’ve created. I’ve included some links to the products I’ve used and most are from Walmart, Amazon or Temu. If you shop Temu, use my code afe55197 to get 30% off your first order or use my direct link here

For this first hairstyle, I washed and dried my hair the night before creating the style. My hair always styles better when it’s not perfectly clean and washed.

Easy Hair Tutorials

I curled my hair with my Beachwaver

I brushed my hair out in the morning and curled it with my Beachwaver Multi Barrel tool using the skinny wand, or the Curly Cone.

I love my Unbrush….it helps my long hair not get tangled!

After the curls cooled, I gently brushed it out with my favorite brush, the UnBrush.

Teasing my curls a bit to add volume

I pulled the sides and front of my hair into a half-up hairstyle and secured it with a ponytail holder. Then I wrapped a long piece of hair from the ponytail around the holder to hide it and secured it with a bobby pin.

I teased my hair a bit around the crown using a teasing brush to make my hair look a bit fuller.

The clips stayed in my hair for a full day

Then I sprayed on some hairspray and added tiny light bulb Christmas hair clips from Temu onto my curls. Amazon has similar ones too. They are marketed as “beard clips”, so if you have someone in your life that would like to adorn their beard with these, buy some for them too!

Each have little claw clips on them that actually hold very well and mine stayed put for a full day. If you have finer hair, clip up more hair into each clip to lock them in place.

I love bows in my hair

Curled Ponytail + Big Red Bow

In 2023, it was rather hot on Sanibel Island in Southwest Florida so I ended up styling my hair in a ponytail on Christmas day. I first curled my hair, then I slicked it back with a bit of styling cream into a high ponytail. I added a big red bow (I got it on Temu for around $2), which was a perfect holiday hairstyle in our tropical environment. Wearing a ponytail hairstyle is also great for getting your hair out of your face while cooking!

An easy and cute festive hairstyle

Half Up + Clip in Antlers

For this style, I used a very large curling iron rod (I used the large cone on my Multi-Barrel Beachwaver, Amazon) then I pulled up the front sides of my hair into a half-up hairstyle. I wrapped a piece of hair from the ponytail around the ponytail holder and pinned it using a bobby pin. I then added cute little glitter antler clips from Temu that I got for around $2. You can get a similar set of two styles on Amazon for around $6.

I also used the clips the following year and just used the large cone again to curl my hair, then left it down and clipped the antlers in. Use a bobby pin to secure more if they won’t stay in your hair. This can happen if you have finer hair.

I love this DIY glitter hair gel

Glitter Gel + Topsy Tail + Snowflake Clips

For this style, I added one-part hair gel (I used Not Your Mother’s, Walmart had the best price at the time) with one-part super fine glitter (I prefer biodegradable and eco-friendly glitter) to  a bowl.

Making glitter hair gel is super easy!

I mixed it with a hair dye brush (get a bowl and a brush on Amazon for $6) and set it aside.

I then parted my hair in the center and used a teasing brush to tease up the back a bit. I used a looping hair tool to loop my ponytail into a twisted low pony. See that looping tool full tutorial here on my website.

Brushing in the glitter hair gel

I used the hair dye brush to apply some of the glitter to my center part, to some of the front of my hair and down the back towards the ponytail.

Spraying the glitter gel to make sure it doesn’t flake

I sprayed my glittered hair with some hairspray and then I added some snowflake hair clips that I got on Temu for around $1 (get them here on Amazon too).

Twisted Bun Half-Up Hairstyle

This easy half-up hairstyle is a great holiday party hairstyle but also a great everyday style. I first straightened my hair using my Wavytalk Pro Steam Straightening brush (Amazon) and parted it in the center.

The back of the twisted hair bun

I used a brush and a fabric wired bun maker to twist up the front section of my hair and secured it in a twisted bun style. I got the set of bun makers on Temu for around $3, but you can get them here on Amazon or here on Walmart too.

Easy bun hairstyles

You can do the bun with a low ponytail too

You can do a half up hairstyle with the bun maker or you can do a low ponytail version. My video shows you how to do both. See this hairstyle tutorial in my video below or via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden.
