Years ago, I created a short video for using the flyaway attachment after seeing a stylist demonstrate it in a video. I thought it was pretty amazing to see how it tamed the frizz on their client’s hair. I ordered it (as my Dyson did not come with this attachment) and worked to perfect a method that not only tames frizz, but also how to use it to get sleek and glassy hair without the use of a straightener. My method works on many hair types and I thought others might like to learn about it too as it’s very effective and easy to use.

Glassy Straight Frizz Free Hair Tutorial
Not everyone uses this attachment the same, but I am going to show you how I use it to not only tame frizz, but also how I use it to straighten my hair. Step 1: Prep with WOW Dream Coat on Wet Hair
Glassy hair starts before you even turn on your dryer. I first wash and dry my hair with shampoo and conditioner. I mostly use Viori (use code CAROLYNBRADEN on Viori’s website or use my link for 10% off) on wet hair (sometimes I use Pureology Hydrate or the bond repairing K-18 leave in repair mask when my hair has had it with heat), I apply WOW Dream Coat Spray, focusing on mid-lengths to ends. This cult-favorite anti-frizz spray creates a lightweight, humidity-blocking shield that activates with heat. I use an UnBrush to brush it through my hair as it’s good for wet hair.

Seals the cuticle for high shine
Controls frizz without heaviness
Creates that signature “glass hair” effect
My hair rake cleans hair out fast!
Step 2: Blow Dry, Then Smooth with the Flyaway Attachment
I use a concentrator nozzle to first do a rough dry on my hair. Once hair is almost dry, I switch to the Dyson Flyaway Attachment (yes, you can buy just the attachment if your dryer did not come with it). This is where the magic happens. In just a few passes, stray hairs disappear and the surface of the hair looks ultra-sleek and polished.
This works fast to straighten hair
This step alone gives that salon-level finish—no flat iron required.
Due to having long hair, I separate the top of my hair with a claw clip, then straighten the bottom of my hair first, using a boar bristle brush (use a hair rake like mine to clear it free of hair first) to pull up hair and use the flyaway nozzle (pointed downward) to straighten the underside of my hair first, then I repeat the process with the rest of my hair. You don’t have to use a brush, but it does help speed up the process in my opinion.

Step 3: Add Hydration with Pureology Glow Catcher Oil
After smoothing, I finish with Pureology Glow Catcher Oil to add hydration back into the hair and lock in shine. Just a small amount warms between the palms and glides over the ends for a glossy, healthy-looking finish. If you need hairspray, I like this one via Target.
