A wax seal always elevates a card

Wax Sealed Gifts

You could use this concept of adding a dried flower with a wax seal to make a gift even more beautiful. I created a tutorial for wax sealed gifts and you can see it in my article here. I’ve always loved wax seals, but didn’t really think about trying to add them to my life until I watched Bridgerton. They sealed letters with wax seals in the show and they just made them look fancy. Wax seals definitely make many things look fancy.

Dried Flower Creations

I’ve been using dried flowers in my home as décor for many years, so it was just a matter of time before I started to use them in my craft creations. I used dried flowers to create a hair comb (also inspired by Bridgerton) and you can see it here in my article. Or you can see it (it was inspired by Pen Featherington, a Bridgerton character) in my 1-minute video below or via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:

Dried Flower Wedding Inspiration

I incorporated many dried flowers into my wedding in 2003. I sprayed a big hat box with gold spray paint and glued many dried flowers to it. I placed all the cards and notes we received for our wedding in the box. I added dried flowers to a pieced of natural paper that was printed with what my sister-in-law read at our wedding.

My cards are sealed with love

I used dried flowers to create boutonnieres for a co-worker’s wedding I helped put together. See images from that event here. Dried flowers are great because they last a very long time and if you are considering flowers for your wedding, dried flowers and their memory from your special day will stay around for a long while.

If you want to dry your fresh flowers successfully, try this from Martha Stewart’s website. I wish I would have read it when trying to dry my wedding bouquet.

The supplies I used for the cards

How-To:

Heat up 5 pellets of sealing wax in your warmer (I sometimes mixed my colors to create swirled seals) and while you wait, write your note on your card.

I poured the wax onto the card on top of the stems of the flowers.

Let the wax cool for about 30 seconds

I placed a heart shaped stamp into the hot wax. You can lift it up after about 30 seconds.

how to accent a wax seal

You can accent a wax seal with a permanent marker

If you want to accent the wax seal design, you can take a permanent marker and color your seal.

Sealing the envelope with a wax seal

Then the cards are done! Place them in an envelope when fully cooled.

Wait until the wax cools before placing in an envelope

I went one step further and added some more flowers to the seal of the envelope and poured wax onto the stems and placed a seal into the wax. I had two different heart themed stamps, so I used one design for the Valentine cards and one for the envelopes.

Please note: You cannot mail wax seals on cards without placing them into a separate envelope. The only way around this is to have the cards hand cancelled, which usually has a fee. Check with your local post office before mailing wax sealed cards on their own.
