How to Apply Skin Tint for All Genders

Wearing makeup isn’t just for girls. I learned this very early in my marriage, when my husband wanted to cover some redness on his face. I was shocked that he was open to wearing some concealer when I offered it. It was at that moment that I knew I married the right person! I remember applying some “It Stick” by Benefit Cosmetics to his redness, blending it well and it disappeared.

Does Beauty Blender’s Bounce Skin Tint Last?

That opened up the gates of me being able to cut and style his hair, help pick out his clothes and more. Some spouses won’t allow their significant others this kind of “say” on their style, but I am fortunate to have Tommy allow me lots of creative freedom in his look. Recently, he had another redness issue and I conducted an experiment using the Beauty Blender “Bounce” skin tint.

Read on to learn what a skin tint is and how I used a skin tint to help my husband with his skin redness due to a dermatitis flare up. You’ll also learn how to apply skin tint to get a sheer or high coverage look.

Using a Beauty Blender to blend Bounce Skin Tint

Recently, my husband was experiencing a dermatitis flare up, and had redness all over his nose and chin area. There was also quite a bit of flaking. Anyone that has had flaky skin knows that it is close to impossible to cover easily.

I had been gifted a lightweight skin tint called Bounce by Beauty Blender and a Beauty Blender tool via Influenster and I wondered if it would work to cover his redness without looking too heavy. I had been experimenting with it for about a month, and thought it was worth trying out on him.

You may now be wondering “What is a skin tint?”. A skin tint is basically a foundation, but it is incredibly lighter in weight. It can be layered, making it quite versatile. One layer will give you sheer coverage, but three layers will give you high coverage. I was also gifted a Beauty Blender tool to apply the skin tint.

I have used a Beauty Blender for quite a few years now, and love it, so I would recommend it as my go-to skin tint, concealer and regular foundation application tool. The Beauty Blender brand is cruelty free, making me love it even more.

Using Bounce Skin Tint on my husband

Because my husband is the greatest, he gave me free reign to apply the skin tint all over his face. I only had one color of the skin tint in a medium shade. It was more of a color for my skin, but I used it anyways. I wet the Beauty Blender tool and squeezed all the water out. I then used the dropper tool (attached to the Bounce Skin Tint lid) to apply a few drops to the Beauty Blender and then “bounced” it onto his skin.

The formula was very sheer, but it covered his redness in one layer. The medium shade wasn’t quite right for his skin tone, but the experiment was to see if it covered his redness, and it did. It covered some age spots too (lol!). He has rather dry skin, and the watery-like consistency seemed to help hydrate his skin. The flakiness seemed to subside. The coverage lasted all day in 80+ degree southwest Florida humid heat in the month of December. I did not use a primer with it on him, and it still lasted.

Other than the color being slightly off, you could not tell he was wearing makeup. He said he wouldn’t want to wear it every day (he works at home) but he would wear it on special occasions and if he had some redness that was really bothering him. It didn’t aggravate his dermatitis so that was a bonus too!

Beauty Blender Bounce Skin Tint Review

As you can see in the before and after photos, it really did a great job to conceal my redness too. I like more coverage, so I applied 2 layers to my skin. It really did cover! It also lasted all day on my combination skin. I did use a primer, as the skin tint did not have a sunscreen, and I have to use sunscreen. I use Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen for my primer. I have tried the Bounce without a primer and it lasted all day as well.

I was impressed with the skin tint. It gave my skin a more dewy look than what I’m used to, but this actually made my skin look healthier. And IT DIDN’T BREAK ME OUT!!!!

My husband and me wearing Beauty Blender Bounce

I have incredibly weirdly sensitive skin that breaks out whenever I try a new product. This skin tint did not give me one single new pimple. That was impressive to me. My only complaint is about the packaging. The bottle is glass, which I like, but the applicator (a dropper that is attached to the lid) was a bit awkward to use and I see this being an issue when I’m trying to get the last drops out of the bottle.

After this experiment, I’d be open to trying more skin tints. It was easy to use and gave a great coverage that was long lasting. It’s great for daytime or evening looks. I did receive a sample of the ILIA brand skin tint a while back and I did not care for it. It was too sheer (no matter how many layers I applied) and too oily. That’s one reason why I didn’t really think skin tints would become “my thing”, but I’m glad I was able to give them another chance with the Bounce.
