When you are driving your car and it starts to pull to one side of the road all on it's own, your instincts may kick in to tell you it's time to get your car aligned. We don't always know why our car alignment could be out of whack, but we know we don't like it pulling us to one side of the road automatically (and also know the tread of our tires could be in danger of becoming uneven very fast), so we get it fixed.
Just like your car being out of alignment, our bodies can become out of alignment too. We don't always know what makes it happen, but it does and can make us feel "discombobulated." We feel like we are being pulled down or up, left or right. We don't feel necessarily sick, but we just don't feel right.
Something you may not know is that our bodies contain energy centers called chakras. What is a chakra? Here's the definition from Google:
A chakra is (in Indian thought) each of the centers of spiritual power in the human body, usually considered to be seven in number.
Over the years, I have learned we have many chakras, or energy centers in our bodies, but the main ones are the following:
Crown (Located at the top of your head and a bit above it, represented by the color violet)
Third Eye (Located between your eyebrows, represented by the color indigo)
Throat (Represented by the color blue)
Heart (Represented by the color green)
Solar Plexus (Located in your ab area, represented by the color yellow)
Sacral (Located at the low back and hip area, represented by the color orange)
Root (Located at the base of the spine, legs and feet, represented by the color red)
Being a former art teacher, I caught on very fast to the color representation of the chakras. I associated them with the colors of the rainbow, because they are in the same order. I was taught the acronym "ROY G. BIV" in school as child. This acronym helps me locate each of the chakras and their color easily as an adult.
Each of our chakras are like little wheels of energy and they can become blocked, or get pushed out of alignment. Just like with our cars, we don't always know what makes it happen, but it does, and we must work to re-balance them in order to stay healthy and happy.
So, what can you do to bring them back into alignment and start to feel great again? There are many suggestions across the web, but I can tell you based on my experiences, what works for me.
I love to do yoga. I've done free yoga at a local park, online (there are many free yoga how-to videos on YouTube) and using some at home DVD's. Yoga can bring you back into alignment, help you build flexibility and help bring peace into your life. Also, here is an article from The Chopra Center that tells you more about chakras, and shows you some simple quick poses you can do to re-balance your chakras on your own.
I love this Chakra Rebalancing meditation by The Honest Guys. Their free guided meditations are simply awesome. Guided meditations help keep your brain focused on a topic, and The Honest Guys have many topics in their video repertoire to help you with many ailments. From not sleeping, to help staying focused at work or school, they've got you covered.
I get reiki. Being a reiki master myself, I have been able to teach my husband how to do it to me. His healing hands set my chakras straight very quickly. We both use a pendulum to detect which of our chakras are out of whack (because we both perform reiki on each other) for quicker resolutions to issues.
So the next time you feel a little "discombobulated", try one of my suggestions. Like my husband always says "What could it hurt? You'll never know unless you try it."
Sending my love and light to anyone who needs it!
