“All you need is love, love, love is all you need.”
—John Lennon and Paul Mccartney
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about love. While I am fortunate to know love and understand love well, it seems as if many have it confused.
Love is not making someone else do what you want them to do.
Love is not demanding possessions in exchange for kindness.
Love is not keeping someone around just because you are lonely. (That’s actually very cruel).
Love is not making another feel sad in order to make yourself feel powerful.
The way I see it, love is actually like floating in an ocean.
It is sometimes peaceful yet loud; sometimes it’s hard, yet soft.
Sometimes love hurts your heart more than anything else in the world.
Sometimes love fills you with so much joy that you laugh and cry at the same time.
Sometimes love makes you do things (things that you may not want to do, but know you should) that turn you into a better person.
Sometimes love just IS.
Love is being present in the moment.
Love is being able to tell someone what you will accept and what you won’t.
Love is helping one another.
Love is love.
Something I know for sure:
We will live in a world one day where love is the only emotion surrounding humans.
The only feeling felt will be love.
The only thought will be love.
Feeling it is easy.
Covering it up is hard.
Be vulnerable and let your love show because someone out there, somewhere, may really need it.
A big thank you to my husband, Tommy Braden, for helping me learn more about love throughout our 18 years together. We still don’t know everything about love, but we learn more and more, each and every day.
