Bridgerton Inspired Creations: How to Wax Seal a Gift-Wrapped Package
Maybe it’s from watching Bridgerton, but I feel all kinds of romantic vibes in my creations right now. I recently found a wax seal kit on Temu and was drawn to the beautifully colored wax pellets so I knew they needed to find a place in my crafts and creations. After doing some experiments, I am finding all kinds of ways to use my wax seal kit, and wax sealing a gift is one of my favorites. Here’s how to wax seal a gift-wrapped package.
My wax sealed presents are ready to gift!
The colorful wax beads are what drew me to this wax seal kit. It reminded me of Bridgerton, which is a very colorful show (it was based on a book series by Julia Quinn), in many ways. It’s a fantasy historical inspired drama, and while it’s not 100% accurate on history, it’s how I wished life could have been in many ways. I love the union of the people, no matter where they are from and no matter their skin color.
I love the heart wax seal stamp
The hair pieces created for the show are amazing, filled with feathers, crystals, flowers, braided pieces and I’ll be working on a hair piece inspired by Bridgerton soon. The costumes are gorgeous, the queen loves Pomeranians (don’t even get me started on HOW CUTE they all are…I’ll definitely watch her series next) and has 6 (my dream) and the story lines are filled with love and a touch of drama, of course.
Bridgerton reminds me of Downton Abbey, so if you are a fan of that, you may love Bridgerton too. It has a bit more, ah ‘em, “skin” for sure. The scenery are something out of a romantic living dream come true, and the actors are amazing. It was no wonder that the more and more I watched it, the more inspired I was.
I love the textured handmade paper
One of the characters, Marina, had many love letters sent to her by her love (and the father of her child) and I took notice of how they were sealed with wax seals. Wax seals cannot be sent on basic letters in the mail now days (unless you place a wax sealed envelope inside of a plain one and then pay a bit extra to send it), but I always loved the idea of wax sealing something. It somehow makes it seem a bit more special to the recipient. Learn about the history of sealing wax here.
Wax seals make a gift just a little more special
I had a few special gifts to send recently (my niece just got her license and a car and my dear friend lost her husband) and I decided to wrap the gifts I made and selected for them in some special paper and attempt to wax seal them and it worked. Here’s how to wax seal a gift.
Things You Need:
I ordered my supplies from Temu due to the low prices. If you order from Temu, use my link here and the search term I used below to find it on the app. If you use my link or promo code afe55197 at checkout, you will receive 30% off (new app users only).
Otherwise, I’ve included links to buy similar items on Amazon or Walmart below.
Electric Wax Seal Kit (With everything you need, including warmer, stamps, wax beads and more)
If your kit doesn’t come with a stamp you want, you can order it separately (I also ordered a bee stamp separately on Temu, but Amazon has a similar one) as a set. I used a heart for this gift wrap project.
Buy a similar Wax Seal Stamp Set at the following retailers:
3-Pack Champagne Color Hand-Torn Frayed Chiffon Ribbon Set
Gift Wrap (I used a natural textured gold paper I had on hand, but these sellers have similar wrap)
How To:
Wrap your gift using the gift wrap and then wrap the chiffon ribbon around the package. I tied it just once at the top (not in a bow).
The gift is beautiful, even without a seal
I placed my electric wax warmer on a natural stone surface (the warmer gets hot!) but you could place it on a trivet. Then I turned it on.
Melting the wax beads
Place the ladle (it comes with the wax seal kit) in the warmer with 5 wax beads and let them melt. I chose red for the packages, but have also made some wax seals in gold recently too. See how to create them (just the seal) in my 1-minute video below or via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden.
Stirring the wax to ensure the beads are all melted
I stirred the wax just a bit with a small metal letter opener that came with my kit.
Pouring the wax onto the package
If you are placing the seal on a gift, carefully pour the melted wax onto the gift (where the ribbon is tied on the top of the gift.
Stamping down into the melted wax
I selected a heart stamp and placed it on the handle and while the wax was still wet, I stamped the stamp into it and held onto it for about 2 minutes. The metal of the stamp is cool and seems to speed up the cooling of the wax. After about 2 minutes, I lifted up the stamp and the wax seal was complete.
I folded the ends of the ribbon in half and cut it diagonally to make a “v” finished edge on the ribbon.
The finished wax seal on the gift package
If you are not placing the wax seal on the gift, you can pour the wax onto a heat safe (and non-stick surface like the stone pastry board I have) and stamp down into it. After about 30 seconds, you can lift the stamp off the wax and peel the wax seal off and use it however you wish.
Bee wax seals
You can even use paint pens to accent the seals
A paint pen can accent the wax seal design
You can also get wax seal stickers (they are small, round, double sided sticky) to place on loose wax seals for use on envelopes and more. Remember, as I said earlier, you cannot mail a letter with a wax seal without placing it in another envelope. You can even have wax stamps custom made and I think they are gorgeous on wedding invitations (which usually need extra postage anyways).

I hope this is inspiring and I look forward to watching more episodes of Bridgerton and making more romantic style creations inspired by the show.
