This writing piece is dedicated to anyone experiencing any kind of loss in their life.
Monica sat in the foyer every night waiting for the cicada's arrival. She stared as it buzzed around, hitting our glass door (probably trying to mate with himself), providing her with hours of entertainment.
My husband and I believe, Monica, our Maine Coon, counted on being able to watch her cicada friend buzz around our front porch every night for the rest of her life.
Then a giant spider caught on to his shenanigans and built a web. He caught Monica's friend, and well, had a great meal.
Monica still sits the foyer every night, awaiting her friend's arrival. She's even started sleeping by the windows in the foyer during the day, which is unusual for her. She seems to miss her friend and thinks he may come back. We've told her about the unfortunate event, letting her know death is a part of the natural order of life, but she doesn't seem to want to believe it is true.
Yes, she probably would have done the same as the spider if she could have gotten a hold of it, but we like to think that maybe they could have been unusual friends. (We like to put happy twists on stories, because why not?).
Sending happy thoughts to anyone who needs them right now.
Happy Friday everyone!
Monica, awaiting her cicada friend.
