4 Tips for Better Oral Health No Matter Your Age
As a child, you were taught to brush your teeth every day; if you’re a parent, you’re already telling your little ones about it. While there’s the given “no cavities” part to having strong oral hygiene habits, did you know it goes far beyond that? Sure, there is the potential for tooth decay, gum disease, and so many others. However, it can still go further. It even goes beyond aesthetics, such as those pearly whites you get from dental care.
In general, your dental health can affect the rest of your health and all other aspects of it. Dental health is just that important. So, how can you feel ensure that you can achieve the best oral health possible, no matter your age? Well, here is everything you need to know!
1- Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day
Even dogs need their teeth brushed too!
Brushing your teeth twice a day is the best way to combat tooth decay and maintain oral health. But how often do we actually do it? The answer is not often enough. Many people brush their teeth only once a day or not at all. This leads to the buildup of plaque and bacteria on your teeth, which can lead to gum disease and tooth loss. Yes, sometimes it can be a little inconvenient, but you should not skip this at all!
We even brush our dog’s teeth twice a week. Pets need good oral care too, and we use a special dog formulated toothpaste and pet tooth brush to ensure their teeth and gums get the care they need. If you neglect your fur baby’s oral health, it can lead to health issues in them, just like in humans.
2- Maintain a Balanced Diet
Maintaining a healthy diet can help your oral health
A balanced diet of fresh fruits and vegetables is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It can help reduce the risk of developing cavities, obesity, heart disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases. One of the biggest reasons why parents (and dentists) are highly against kids eating junk food is mostly due to how easy it is for kids to get cavities.
Sure, sometimes it’s great to have junk food like sweets in moderation. There isn’t anything wrong with that. However, it’s best to try to maintain a balanced diet of fruits and veggies. This helps your oral health goin strong and your overall health too!

3- Floss Your Teeth Everyday
Flossing is mandatory for good oral health
Have you ever been to the dentist, your dentist checks your teeth, and you begin to bleed? They usually say it’s due to you not flossing, right? Well, that is true. Yes, it can be inconvenient, and no one really likes to floss. However, your gums need it, and your teeth do too. Your toothbrush cannot get everything, and built-up plaque loves growing between the teeth. It’s really one of the easiest ways to improve your health today.
I personally like to use an easy glide type of floss daily. It is great for teeth that are a little tight or anyone that has sensitive gums.

4- Drink More Water
Try adding fresh fruit to water for added nutrients
Everyone already knows that water is a necessity. But did you know that this can help your oral health? Sure, it’s obvious that drinks like juice and soda are not particularly good for your teeth in the first place due to all the sugar. However, it goes beyond just this.
Drinking water helps to control the pH level of your mouth, which is important for preventing oral health issues such as tooth decay and gum disease. On top of that, when you’re hydrated and your mouth is moist, it just feels better for your teeth and gums.
